0 LMITOUT
When you find one that works, why don't you give it to my neighbor when you're done with it.

0 marine_man
I've got good luck with the Tri-Tronics Bark Limiter with the Bark Odometer... the odometer makes it easy to know if you've got it set on the right setting, and the auto shutoff keeps the battery good for quite a while. I've had one now for about 3 years and haven't had any issues with it (And thankfully my dog figured it out after about 9 months of use... I use it very little now).marine_man
0 black otter
I had one, it worked, but if he hit it on the doggie door on his house, or if it hit the ground when he layed down it would shock him. So I didnt like it. Dont know the brand though.
0 Brad B
I have used innotechs that fleet carrys. they are okay but tend to wear out fast(of course it doesn't help that one of my dogs ate it off my other dog when she had it on her). I would look at the tri tronics. it will be more expense upfront but it should last a long time if taken care of. regardless of which brand you get just remember to check the dogs neck and make sure it is not causing sore spots. I have a vet friend and he has seen cases where people put bark collars on their dogs and leave it on to long and then there is sores on the dogs neck. 0 8-Ball
MM- About how much did tri-tronics run and how often do batteries need to be changed? Thx, 8-ball.
0 marine_man
Around $100... batteries every two years or so, with the use I described above.Batteries are available at Walmart, or wherever you prefer...they don't take a special one.marine_man
0 DTro
Tri-Tronics for my dog too. Startd with a cheapie, and it was a waste. It's a great training tool. I hardly use it anymore though, because if he starts barking, all I need to is jingle the collar and he stops immediately. The first time it went off, it wasn't much fun though, for him or me. 0 8-Ball
I guess the general consensus is Tri-tronics and dont waste time w/ anything else. I went to Fleet Farm but they dont sell it there so I ordered the unit from Tri-tronics. Hopefully it will arrive soon as the wife and I are tired on all the barking! 0 marine_man
What I've done in a pinch (no bark collar, dead battery, etc) that worked for me was every time the dog barked (my dog's an outside dog) I went outside with an ice cream bucket of water and dumped it on his head and told him no... I did this during the summer, so I didn't have to worry about the dog getting cold. You have to do it as soon as you can after he barks for the dog to make the association, and the first couple of times you do it it gets pretty old, but over time it does the trick. marine_man

0 Tom7227
My kid was told at her dog training class to have a squirt bottle available with a water/vinegar solution - not much vinegar. Give the dog a shot when it barks. The bark collar I bought at FF - Innotech i think for about $60, wasn't having much effect until the longer probes were put on. The dog seems to be catching on, at least when someone is home.
