Dog Hair!

Anyone have a solution for cleaning the dog hair all over the carpet in my boat? Seems like you can never get it to come up by just vacuming it?

i dont know either, we have 2 labs that are in shed mode right now. while i dont have a boat, i use a regular vacuum in the house and run a robotic vacuum each day over the carpet and tile. the hair drives me crazy but not sure if there is a trick other than taking some tape and dabbing it on the carpet.

I second jefferyd on the current shed mode. To remove the hair in my boat, I use a stiff bristle scrub brush to orient the hairs in the same direction, then I use the beater of the vacuum at 90 degrees to the hairs, seems to work pretty well. It turns out to be a lot of work just to have them along, doesn't it? Worth the price though! Phred52

Wetting down the carpet seems to help a lot, of coarse you will want to use a wet vac.

I have a yellow lab that sheds like mad, mostly because we don’t brush him as much as we should. I take him fishing with me most of the time and I have dark grey carpet in my boat. I am admittedly a little anal when it comes to cleaning my boat and have to clean it after each use. I have found that the Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vac is hands down the best overall way to get the hair out. I tried everything and this works the best and is the fastest. A regular vacuum would work, but is difficult to maneuver around seats ect. The Ultra Hand Vac is small, powerful, has a rotating brush, and is not terribly expensive (about 35 bucks). It also works very well vacuuming your stairs at home!!!!!!!!

We don't have the problem in the boat, but we do on the rugs and stuff at home. What I've found that works well is this.

Get a dog brush, one that has very stiff wire bristles.

Take that and "brush" the carpet. The brush will grab the hair and all you have to do is grab it off of the brush. By the end you'll end up with a nice pile of hair. Give it a try.
