2010 after the EXPO swapmeet "invite"

Recommended Posts

That time of year again,,The I cant remember how many years annual Swapmeet after the expo will be held again,

Sat April 10th from 7pm till most likely closedown has in past years at

O'Garas on the corner of selby and snelling in St Paul,,In the Shamrock room

Bring you muskie rods, reels, lures, and anything muskie even a boat in the parking lot,,swap, sell, buy or just hangout,We usually draw 150+ in attendance and get quite a bit of intrest from the packed saturday night general bar crowd walking through.

No charge to attend, room is paid for,has usual get there early to grab the very valuable table space

Theres free parking behind and also in the bank parking lot across the street both have staffed security.

There will also be two bands there "Scary Numan" and "Sweet Stachie" both are 80's cover bands with pretty good reviews

No dress code but-young guys may want to trade out of their fav musky shirt in the parking lot and shine up.I know of one well known local pro who runned and gunned up and down the floor and converted a follow last year 'wink-wink"

come early food is great, bring the kids even the EXPO owner brings his family,,In fact this will be the hangout every nite from thurs set up-sat if your at the show with a three day pass.

this is a non profit no sponsor event,,just a hang out good time

and if you're lookin for a good burger, i'd recommend heading a couple blocks west on Selby and checking out the Blue Door Pub before hand! Might be a little bit of a wait but it is worth it

its a good neighborhood, i don't think you'd be risking any unsavory activities regardless of which way you went on Selby. But the neighborhood gets better if you're walking west.

Blue Door is just over 5 blocks due west of O'Garas, it is on the corner of Selby and Fairview. It'd be just over a mile from Concordia, probably about 25 minute walk.

Personally I think it is about 17 times better than O'Gara's, and I went to school and live in the area. But that is just my .02

BDP is good eats. Taste of Thailand is close too - just down Selby a ways to the west. The Roast Duck Curry will turn your life around. Close the night out with Eggs Benedict at the Uptowner... Life is good. Cholesterol level...maybe not so much.

Wow, talk about my old neighborhood, I grew up on Selby Ave & Howell St.

Useless Cliff Claven trivia tidbit for the day: Captain Ken's Baked Beans was founded in St. Paul and used to be made from their place on the corner of Selby and Fairview (SE corner appt building). He used to be the fire captain of the fire house on Snelling and Iglehart. The neighborhood smelled like baked beans with the right wind..... Now they're off Robert St in West St Paul.

O'Gara family lived across the street three houses down. I still remember when Timmy O'Gara fell off his bike and broke his arm!

Could be in for a bit of a walk to go from expo to Ogaras or twice the distance to the BDP. But hey it is nice out. You guys are spot on about the BDP though, the Juicy Blucy, with Garlic and Bacon will fill anyone up. I believe they still sell Surly Beer too, Made in Brooklyn Center, if you didnt know. Likely the only good thing about BC. Cholesterol, through the roof.

My mom grew up on Farview and Iglehart, glad to see there are still some STP people out there.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
