ducker
I have a 2006 Polaris Sportsman 500 (none EFI) with 197 actual miles that is basically collecting dust. It has a front rack extension with a Mad Dog auger rack. It has a Cabelas drop down rack in the back and I also have a Quick Attach 3 place Polaris bucket rack. Oh yeah, I also have a Cabelas Camo Travel cover.Would $4000 be to much to ask if I was going to sell this unit?It unfortunately has never even seen the mud. Dave S
Considering you could pick up a new non-current SP500 for around $4700-4900, yours would be on the high end. The good thing you have going for it is the low miles and a couple extra goodies. On an average year, $4K would be a bargain. But what dictates the value in this economy is what are the new machines going for. Including non-current models. Someone is more likely to spend the $4900 for a new machine that is a couple years newer and has EFI. I would stick to the $3800-4000 range. You can always come down if it doesn't sell. Or you could just hang onto it.
ducker
Thanks for the info. It is nice to have the few times it gets used each year.

gr8icefishinmind
With that low of miles on it I would think that 4 grand would be reasonable!

Central Bassman
I agree that 4 grand is high for this ATV. Some people might pay it just because they don't know the market but you can buy a brand new 2010 Polaris 500 HO for $4999.99. Four year newer ATV for 999.99 dollars more!! muddpuppy
You still pay taxes and lic fees on titelment when you buy used. Maybe not as much but you do. As far as extended waranty you at least have that option when you buy new. I am not saying 4000 is a good or bad price. Because if I was selling it I would want the most I could get. If I were buying it it's about 1k too high for my likes. When I am selling something I start high knowing I am high anyways you always have to be willing to come down. Not to may people are going to give what you are asking no matter what the starting price is.

As far as extended waranty you at least have that option when you buy new. No. You don't pay taxes. I bought one not long ago and there were NO taxes and a very small title fee (I think it was under 30 bucks). If I were making the decision between a used (150 miles) wheeler for 4K or a new one for over 5K, I'd feel like the 4K was a very good deal. I look at it as I'm paying over 25% more for 150 less miles. If wheeler technology (engine or suspension) had drastically changed in the mean time, I might feel differently.
