pascooter94
want to know if a new lakemaster chip will work in a old lms-480???
0 croixflats
I am not sure but I would think so. The new chips are micro SD cards. I would think you can get at SD card adaptor that the micro card fits into. The reason I say this is I run all Garmin when I transfer the micro card from my hand held to my fishfinder I have to put it into a SD card adaptor. 0 Brad B
norm25 what exact chip do you have and what did you try and put it in. one other thing to check is to see if the card is in locked mode. this would be on the adapter for the mirco sd card or if it was a regular sd card the lock switch will be on the side. there might be a issue with a compatiblity with your unit. 0 mn_bowhunter
It depends what the unit will support. I'd call lakemaster and ask them directly. I know I had problems with an older lowrance lcx-15mt that wouldn't read my 2008 navionics chip. Something about the software wouldn't support the newer map chip format. Also, in this case there was no update from lowrance to fix the format issue.
0 norm25
Sorry for the delay, new baby keeping me up.I have an LMS-480m. I talked to Lowrance, and the guys at pro fishing supply, they both thought it would support it. Well, even with the newest updates it just locks the unit up. The chip is a 2009 Navionics Hotmaps Premium. Maybe the Lakemaster will work, maybe not, but I would try one in your unit first before buying it.Norm
0 Brad B
I looked at the navionics web site and it does not appear that your LMS-480 is compatable with any navionics chip.
0 Brad B
I also check the lake master site and their chip is compatable with your unit.
0 norm25
Woo Hoo Brad you caught me fibbing. What can you tell me about the 2009 chip? The compatibility charts I see on the websites are for the 2010. I bought my chip last spring. (2009)Was it on the list or not? When I bought, it was. $110 is not chump change for me. I thought I had done my research, well I guess not. I am not ripping anything or anyone I am just advising my best advice. That is to try before you buy. Nothing more nothing less.Norm
