**Strikemaster Strike Lite II

Wwnt to Strike Master in Big Lake today and one of the employee there was messing around with a strike-lite auger in the factory and I noticed a "Strike-lite II" sticker on the fuel tank of the auger. I asked the employee if that was a different 4 stroke auger. He stated this is the new one of next year 2011. Same power head but NOW with a lazer shaft instead of a plastic shaft.

I know guys are buying these 4 stroke augers and are switching and putting different shafts on them (ex. 224 or lazer). So I'd wait until next year when I won't have to spends an "X" amount of money to buy another shaft to put on the 4 stroke!!!!!!!! I don't know if there will be any difference in price. I know the strike-lite plastic shaft cost about $190 at D-Rock. The lazer shaft is WAAAY cheaper!

they must of wised up when they had people bringing back the plastic auger unit to get a lazer unit. you would think the price should go down by $30 to $50 since like you stated the lazer drill unit is cheaper. it would be interesting if they took it even one step farther and put a chipper style drill unit on a strike lite head.

That will make a great auger then - Strikemaster was nice enough to replace my auger bit for free this year when I explained the problems I was having with it. Like said earlier - they must have decided to design this a bit better. Mine works great now with the lazer bit on it by the way.

You bet you do, try one. I did 5 years ago and haven't looked back. Had the plastic problem finally last season, to be honest it was self induced, had I lifted it out a time or two to help clear the chips of the 38" thick ice rather than just try to horse it on through, (which I knew better than) it would have been fine. I called Strikemaster, told them I would be going through the area and dropped by with it, told them the story and they asked if I wanted the plastic or metal to replace it, I chose to go with metal, asked what I owed them and I don't know who was more suprised, them for me expecting to pay for it or me when they gave it to me for free.

I will be in the market for a new auger next year. I heard somewhere that Strikemaster was playing around with a Honda four stroke for a future product. Anyone heard anything or able to confirm this?

Dave

Heard the same thing. Don't know if rumour or not, but would be a sweet deal. The honda 4 stroke is a little cold blooded and not immune to the ethanol, but at least you know it would be more reliable than almost anything out there.

I haven't heard about this but I may do some checking on it. I do how ever know they are introducing a new hand auger that is suppose to be ultra light. I asked the rep I talked to about how much it will run he said right around $110.00. the blade carriage will be made in sweden and the flighting will be a flexible composite. they are not the same composite flighting that was used on the original strike lites. it is a whole new composite and they are also working on making a composite drill unit for the power heads. it will most likely be the same new composite as the new hand auger. time will tell what they come up with.

The Subaru/Robyn powerhead is awesome! I love mine.

So much quieter (especially with the solos), and none of that 2 stroke exaust which gives me a horrible headache.

Two things you need to be aware of:

You need to be careful about how you set it down. You need to be sure the oil drains into the pan, not into the rest of the engine. Just something you need to be aware of, you can't just throw it down, or let your buddies do that. My friend set it down wrong last year and it took a few weeks to get back to normal.

I recommend using conditioned gas. Because you will use so much less than you are used to, a tank will last you a while. (I fish almost every weekend, punching 20-40 holes a weekend and I go through less than 2 tanks a year).

The plastic auger was a mistake on SMs part. Mine works most of the time but it can be so frustrating when the blasted thing freezes up halfway down a hole. The new ones should be near perfect.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
