Trilene Sensation

PerchJerker

Question

Anyone ever used this line, and what do you think of it?

The store was out of the brand I usually use so I decided to try Sensation. I spooled up a couple reels to get ready for a trip and my 1st impression is NOT GOOD. For a copolymer line it seems really stiff, and to make matters worse I think it was twisted on the spool from Trilene ---- it's a real be0tch to work with and I can feel the twists in the line coming off the spool.

Right now I'm having visions of Trilene Vanish and all the horror stories that go with that line ......

Hoping you guys have good things to say about Sensation .....

I tried it after hearing about it at a fishing seminar. It's very stiff and I had trouble with it springing off of the spool. Much like using Vanish on a spinning reel. I will not buy it again. For mono I will stick with Magna-thin, other wise its Power Pro and fluro leaders.

I started out fishing Trilene XL, then Sensation, then Fireline. I guess I liked it the least out of the three, although it seemed to have a little more feel than the XL. I only used it for 1 year, switched to Fireline which I've used for 4 or 5 years now.

I've used the Sensation for about three years now and really like it. I only use it on my spinning reels and just haven't had the negative experiences as mentioned above. Last fall, I started using some of the Suffix stuff and it's o.k. too. My favorite line for spinning gear is the P-Line Floroclear...neat stuff.

Sensation is my second favorite mono other than berkley pro. fluorocorbon. It wants to shoot off the spool when you first put it on but after you use it a couple of times (stretch it a little?)it will be a lot more managable. It's ultra-strong, low diameter line and you can really pick up light strikes with it. Just avoid filling any spinning reel to the brim with it.

If I'm using mono on a spinning reel, it's always sensation. I started buying it because it was the only bright green (solar) line I could find for river walleye fishing. I liked it so much that I started using the clear version for my light line bass and walleye fishing during the rest of the year. It is abrasion resistant and does not stretch nearly as much as a pure mono like trilene xl. I have not experienced the coiling problem you have encountered, but I am primarily a bass guy and use large spinning reels when compared to most walleye fisherman.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I wanted copolymer line on these reels for the advantages you get from copoly --- good line handling characteristics, strong, more sensitive than mono but still has some stretch. I decided to try Sensation since the copoly I like to use wasn't available and I didn't have time to wait to order it.

I'm really glad (and relieved) to hear that a bunch of you guys like it ...... I was a little worried I'd be stripping and replacing line after the first day of my trip sick

Now I'm much more optimistic about that first day, and being in a good mood at the end of the day laugh
