Tom7227
I bought a new boat lift and now I need to get a cover. I am wondering about whether the color makes any difference - does a lighter color last longer because of less damage from the sun? It's a Shoremaster with a 25 foot canopy. Any thoughts on where a quality cover could be obtained at a reasonable price? Not saying the factory cover has anything wrong with it, just want to do my research. Thanks for your time.Tom
bassNspear
i would buy it from the manufa that built the lift. This way it will fit the canopy perfect, and you wont have to worry about it blowing off or tarring.I believe color is personal, i have seen alot more tans, greys and greens then anything else
Gus
I would go with a lighter color. My inlaws have a blue one that shows every sky-carp dropping from a mile away. At our place we have a light gray one which from a distance you can't tell there are droppings anywhere on it. They both get power washed a couple times a year but my preference is still for a lighter color.
Shack
Tom, I would give Canvas Craft Inc. a call. They are an HSO sponsor and here is their info: http://www.canvascraftinc.com/ They have good pricing and very knowledgeable staff. Good luck! BriGuy88
You could check with some of the vendors at the NW Sportshow next month... many of them will have specials that they run during the show. I replaced my vinyl lift cover a couple of years ago with a fabric-style cover. Couldn't be happier with the performance of the new cover. Much easier to install (weighs about 1/2 as much as the vinyl one did) and seems to breathe better too. No mildew at all over the past 2 years unlike the vinyl. They are expensive no matter where you go especially if you have a 25' canopy. I would also stick with a lighter color to prevent noticable fading. I went with a tan cover. Good luck on your search! solbes
I have a white one that I like for a couple of reasons. We do get the bird droppings also, but you'd never know looking at ours. The other thing I like is that it's very easy to spot where to park the boat on any night but a new moon. Just the slightest amount of light makes it pretty visible. If it wasn't for the bird droppings, I would have gone dark green. Looks nice on the shoreline and blends in with the treeline.
Walleye Guy
Dark green here. love the color but its always covered in bird [PoorWordUsage].Buy one from the manufacturer who made the lift. There is more than canvas to a lift cover. You need the frame and the ties that attach the canvas to the frame. I have a Hewitt lift and canopy that is 9 years old and the canopy still looks great.
