GotOne
I'm flying into Orlando Friday with my family. We are heading over to Clearewater beach one of the days to try some fishing. I checked c.list and only found some bass fishing-inland guy's. I'll start doing some research on the area and try to come up with something before we arrive. With the cold weather, hopefully, it won't be ice fishing! After checking, it looks like I will be checking out Pier 60 and try fishing off the pier! KOOSHDADDY
We are leaving thursday, we are driving though, but we will be there on fridsy. In the past we have fished on the beach right by cape canaveral, we caught a few pompano, but i think the water is too cold this year. i think we are gonna drive farther south towards Ft Lauderdale. Good luck in Clearwater.

Good luck in Clearwater. I will be there on this Friday also and staying until next Thursday. They have large boats that go out at night and anchor and let you fish for 4 or 5 hours for around $40. I did it a few years ago and we caught lots of fish. They give rods to use and supply the squid. I also did a daytime charter but that was a lot more money. I want to bring my own gear down but the rods are to long for the suitcase.
mainbutter
I like the Ft Myers and nearby coastline to the north and south. There is too much awesome fishing to ever be able to fish it all. You can do anything from goliath groupers to snook and tarpon.Edit: just saw you are thinking of shore fishing (was confused since you asked about offshore fishing). Shore fishing the gulf is fantastic. I haven't ever really found such a thing as a "bad spot" to fish. Points off of peninsulas or islands are great, any kind of structure is great including bridges or just rocky areas. Most of my shore fishing is just done on sandy beaches. Cut bait or shrimp on a circle hook is all you need to catch dozens of species. I like to bottom fish with 2-6 feet of 100lb mono in front of my 2oz pyramid sinker for leader and bite protection. Only one shark out of a couple dozen I've hooked has been able to bite through 100lb mono.
DUCKJ
Ill be heading down in a couple weeks to spend a few weeks with my dad.We will be in the coco beach area some and down in the keys. Stopping by KY to fish for Muskies for a half day and then off to Coco beach. Already talked to some guides in Islemarada keys(spelling?)to do some shark/tarpon and bottem fishing. 3 weeks of fun in the sun and a ton of fishing. A few years ago we did some fishing in Lauderdale and did pretty good. Also fished in TB but didnt do as well. Either way, softwater is better then hard water. Sorts, t-shirt with a beer in one hand and a rod in another. Cant wait.Duck
