You can exchange your blades or buy new ones for the lazer. I have not heard any good news of people sharpening them with success. The chipper you can sharpen with a good file.

My dad does that too with a file and i was just seeing how many more people do this. Would definately be cheap!

After WASTING waaay too much cash on blade exchanges at several bait shops/sporting goods stores throughout the state the past 10 years that always swore, "These are resharpened at the factory in Big Lake"...then going to SM last spring and having the tech tell me that they don't resharpen - I was a bit peeved.

Note from admin, please read forum policy before posting again, thank you.

Now when I asked the tech what I was supposed to do with my dull set - he just shrugged...so all this does not seem right for such an advanced set of blades?

I was told by the strikemaster tech that the exchange blade is a new blade but is doesn't come in the fancy plastic packaging as a way to keep the cost down for the public. also they take the old blades that people bring in and recycle them(they get money from scrap yards for these). so they basically give you a credit towards a different blade when you bring in your old blades since they make money off your old blade. now the exchange blades that some baitshops deal in may be resharpen by a joe smoe in a garage but the exchange directly from strike master are not resharpened by them.

The head is a Magnum III, not sure what the drill is. I've asked SM 3 times and all that they will tell me is that they no longer make the blades(10"). I bought it pretty cheap and it runs great. I do wish that the seller wouldn't have started it in the parking lot, bye bye sharp blades. Sorry for the crappy pic.

They make 10" chipper and 10" lazer blades, just not the blades in question I guess. Those do look like a large mora blade. I'd buy a lazer auger bit, be done with it. A new bit would be about $100 more than replacing blades (if you could..) Pretty sure a lazer blade would rip on that powerhead.

It is a 10" Mora auger. The auger didn't come with a cover. I went to make room for the auger in my truck and I heard the motor start, I turned around to see the blades spinning on asphalt. We were having a pretty good discussion going up until that point.

I just got clarification from SM, they no longer make 10" Mora blades and they no longer sharpen them. I guess I didn't get such a great deal on my auger after all. Hopefully I can get a good deal on a drill unit that will match up to my powerhead. Do new drill units come with sharp blades, hopefully Swedish?

quijibo,

I have a local shop by me that has drill units on clearance right now. a 8" lazer unit is $130.00, 10" lazer is $155.00. 8.25" or 10.25" chipper style drill units are $80.00 for either size.

Very good prices....... I just recently bought a Lazer Pro 10" Solo for $430.
