Marcum vs820

Had some trouble last 2 times out with my zt aqua view so it may be time to move on. Looking at the Marcum vs820. Wondering what the avg length of time on the provided battery is per trip?

Also does anyone have any opinions on the vs380 vs the vs820? Is the vs820 display that much better? Does the vs 380 have a sun screen to help with outside viewing?

Thanks.

I just used my VS820 from 7 am to 5 pm this past weekend with no battery issues.

My buddy has a new VS380 and it is a great camera. For the most part the electronics are the same as the 820 and the pictures are pretty close in quality. The dark water technology is incredible (especially when compared to my Aqua Vu Scout). Yes - the 380 has a sun shield.

If you have the extra money, get the 820 - if not, get the 380. Can't go wrong either way.

I have to believe that the 820 would be better for outside use because of the flat screen. I tried using my 380 over the weekend and couldn't see much of anything because of the glare on the screen (even with the sunshade in place). Guys that have a 380, have you had any issues with glare and have you been able to overcome them?

How is the 820 when the sun goes down? I was thinking of upgrading but that is quite the step. Just want to make sure it is worth it.

That will mostly depend on water clarity. I was on a lake the other night and recorded this video, before and after dark. We were in about 30 FOW and the water clarity was about average (not super clear, not super stained).

In the video, you will see the light at the top of the screen. The Manta design of the camera housing has the light positioned at the top to keep glare to a minimum.

Keep in mind, this was recorded on a entry level video camera (not a direct connection so that is why you see the dark lines and fuzziness) and it also compressed for YouTube.

This is from the 380 which is essentially identical to the 820, minus the LCD screen.

I was impressed.

That is a nice video Dtro.

Very clear picture on those.

I dont know what would depress me more...

sitting up on the ice and not knowing what was swimming by or watching the camera with all those fish in your honey hole and not hitting the jig grin.

Well I was going to hold off as my issue with the zt may be a weak battery. I did however pull the trigger on the vs820 when I found one for $530, shipping included. Was $519 before shipping. I had to jump on that one.

I'll let you know how impressed I hope to be when I get it and try it out.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
