Holes freezing in the perm?

Many have talked about the computor fans to move air in portables, why not under the house? Thinking out side the box. Why not have a little fan work like an exhaust fan, blow air out from under the house. Bank the house really well, have a tube with a fan blow the cold air out side from under the house, thru a small opening for the tube? This could bring the warmer air in the house, under the floor, to rise the temp of the dead air space.

I've also been wondering about how to help keep the holes open longer. I'm running around in a portable, and have been contemplating cannibalizing a 5-gal with a lid and an aerator to keep the water circulating at the surface.

I'm already cutting one of my 5-gals in half to use as a sleeve-cover for re-drilling (last week I punched too fast into the water and brought up a flood inside the pop-up, creating an ice-sheet that was no fun to walk over).

I figured if I clipped a battery-operated aerator to it, and dropped the bubble-stone just into the surface, it'd help keep the hole open longer when I'm not around - keeping the surface moving to prevent freeze-up. Maybe instead of a 5-gal, one of those big styro baitbuckets - better insulated.

I'll have to give it some thought.

Aluminum tubing with a cap welded on one end of it. Push the cap end down into the water and keep it there with a 2x4 under the frame. When it comes time to get them out, squirt lighter fluid around the walls of the tubing and throw a match. The heat from the flame will conduct through aluminum popping the tubes out. Never have the problem again.

last time out I did tried something different. I decided to put a 12 inch 4x4 under each corner, drilled holes and lowered shack. I then put my sleeves in. never banked the house at all. the holes never skimmed over once. seemed to be better then when I did bank it in...

Leave the house jacked up a little when you drill holes then drop the house on the piles of ice around the holes you just drilled, make sure to pack it all the way up to the floor, use ice from inside the holes (Ice Armor mitts work great for this), then if you have any snow, bank the house as good as you can.

Mine froze over night Friday night, banked the house Saturday and didnt have a problem for the rest of the weekend.

I'm in a portable, and I've discovered that using Frabill's insulated round tip-ups (obviously all reeled in, not hooked, buttoned-up) and banking that around the hole - does really good for keeping the hole from freezing faster than it would normally.
