Why did clam give up on this lineup of houses? It seemed pretty bulletproof and heavy duty to me. They have really gotten cheap lately with the seats, sleds, and i am really turned off by them now. I think the frabill would get my vote unless they had a quality house like the x2 again.

If you take a closer look at Clam's catalog, you'll see that they have intergerated several of the "X-series" features into their standard flip-overs.

they have integrated some of the features but they are not even close to comparable......the tub alone on the X2 is alot thicker and sturdier from the new floor models that I could tell.....another thing I noticed on the new models is the way the seats are set-up to be permantly attached to the tub and they are a funny design which with the X2 it is a great option to remove the seats and put them in the bottom of the tub while transporting or if fishing alone remove one of the seats all together......I am very happy that I got the X2 when I did!!!!

I am thinking they took it out of the line because of the way the economy was heading. Things were going to be tight for people finacially and they figured they better give them a cheaper alternative or they will loose sales. I think the closes you can get to a X2 now is the TCX. I am glad I bought my X2 when I did.The seats alone are worth $500 IMO.

I have to agree . I never was much for the Clam huts and alot of it was the chinsy tubs they used and also the light tent . Then they bought out POLAR I believe and wow what a difference in the solid tub and skin on the X2 . That was a quality hut in every which way . I kick myself for not picking one up now .

I wish they would have continued that model in every way .
