Snowmobile tracks.

Been having a debate over what tracks are better than others and why. My self not sure including what the height of the lugs are for. Any help is a learning factor.

The Camoplast tracks are probably one of the best on the market. As for the heights, I think it's self-explanatory. If you ride in a lot of deep powder or off the trails, you want more lug. If you ride on packed trails and ice, you want less lug.

They also make tracks that have studs right in the cleats. I believe it's called the Ice Attack?? Don't quote me on that, it may have a different name.

Ok I heard that the comoplast were junk before and at the same time they are on most new sleds.

I find this interesting as I will be in need of a new track within a year or two. Ripstick..were you given an explaination on why camoplast are junk? I know nothing of tracks but I would want one that best suits all conditions. ie. powder, ice, slush, and trails. I'm an ice fisherman and pull a loaded porty on a light sled. '93 indy sport 440.

Splakeshaker, really didnt go into detail. But I was in hibbing yesterday and stooped at mohawk salvage. They were telling me about them being on alot of the factory sleds.

i love my camoplast hacksaw track, i wish i would have the ripsaw track just cuz i want the longer lug.

Camoplast is the leader...you'll have to decide which is best suited for your style of riding. Also, check to make that whatever lug size you go with that it will clear the tunnel. Older 121" sleds only had 1/2" to 3/4" stock.

Have a 98 trail. looked at a 1' lug and the guy thought it may hit. Problem is outside lugs on mine are basicly gone.

Camoplast all the way, had Ripsaws on the last 2 sleds I owned (03 mxzx800 and 01 mxz 700) they work great. They have an 1.5" lug. I bought the tracks before I even rode either sled. IMO the track is the most important part of the sled, if you cant get the power to the snow what good is any of it? I would look on Clist for a good used take off, there usually pretty cheap.
