Park model trailer?

Dahitman44

Question

Thinking about doing the campground thing and I was wondering what company make a good park model trailer and which company does not.

How well do things trailers hold up?

I am limited in size must be less than 12 x 40 -- also I like the "cabin look" knotty pine etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can a guy save money by getting a used one or hold over? can theyt even be found. I did see a lot of used trailers on the net just not what I was looking for.

Thanks

Do you have a campground in mind? If so, most will always have a few for sale that you could look at. Otherwise like upnorth said, a 5th wheel may be a better option. They are very roomy and much more mobile.

Most RV dealers sell park models now. You shouldn't have much of a problem finding several in your area. Look around at the Northwest Sport Show coming up in March.

Go to the camping show in February at the Minneapolis Convention Center, there will be many more there than the sportsman show and you can get a good start looking at a few differtent models in the same place.

I recently sold a Breckenridge 102" wide. Keep in mind a lot of counties will charge a personal property tax on the 12' wides but not on the 8 wides. That is usually in the $600. range per year vs. around $14.00 for a license. If I had to do it all over I would buy a large travel trailer that I could move without having to hire someone. You will get tired of leaving it in the same place year after year. If it needs repairs you will be able to bring it to a real rv service center instead of depending on some unskilled local yocal "repairman" to overcharge you. Same features as a park model for the most part just a little smaller. 400 sqr. feet is the largest you can have and still call it an RV. More than that and it's a mobile home that comes with a different set of rules. Just MHO.

you might want to look for one a yr or 2 old i've seens lots of them sittin on the side of the road more 5 wheel than park models

if you buy from a dealer weather new or non current deal hard cuz they are really marked up

I had a 5th wheel montana brand new spose to be one of the better ones but they are built CHEAP..think bout it 35-40k

for a new one and they only warrenty it for a year

they will SELL you a longer one of coarse

so look around you should be albe to get a pretty good deal right now i just drove by Hilmersons in little falls and they have yr old sale going on they have all kinda park models 5th wheel and travel also louies in brainerd has a big inventory of park models might be albe to deal there

take your time and be picky
