carb adjustment needed after AMSoil switch

Mag2000 auger on it's second season.

I changed over to AMSoil at 75-1 for the first gallon. The first tank of gas it started about the same (12th pull) and then you could put it to 1/2 choke for 10-15 seconds and then shut the choke off and it would idle nice.

Second tank of gas and it still starts the same, except now it has a very touchy choke. You have to play with the choke between full and 1/2 while warming it up or it will stall out.

Do you think it needs a carb adjustment after switching to the AMSoil???

definitly try a new plug, cheap insurance. sounds like it needed a carb cleaning before the switch

2-3 pulls should be enough, sounds like a carb issue.

I have an older MagIII that I switched to Amsoil (80:1) this fall and it has run fine. No adjustments. I did run some Seafoam thru it also though.

After warm up will it idle with the choke off? If this is just for the warmup I wouldn't bother. I have a Mag2000 powerhead and I have the same issue for warmup, but after 30 seconds I can shut off the choke and it idles forever!

I agree, sounds like a carburetor problem. Extremely rarely is it required to adjust because of changing to Saber Professional.

on a jiffy it calls for a 24 to 1mix if you switch to Amsoil do you change the ratio or leave it the same.

My jiffy never idled at all(more than 10 seconds) in the 10+ years I've had it. I switched to amsoil saber at 100:1 and now it idles perfectly and runs better overall. Now to sell it now that I have my SM lazer. You can run amsoil in it up to 100:1 but many play it safe and run 80:1.

By changing the mix ratio you are in effect changing the jetting to some extent. 24:1 is a lot more oil than 75:1. Less oil means more fuel.

It worked out well for me with my 3 hp Jiffy. It wouldn't rum right at 24:1 but when I swithched to amsoil it ran a lot better. It was almost like it was fuel starved before.

With that much less oil you may have to lean it out a little to account for more fuel in the mixture.
