help with eskimo

Powder

Question

Friday night I bought a used 8 inch Eskimo Earthquake. Yesterday I went to try it out and the power head runs great. The problem I'm having is that it doesn't want to cut. It took several minutes and a lot of pressure from me leaning on it to finally get one hole cut. I put brand new blades on so I know that's not the problem.

Any ideas?

I also have an Eskimo Baracuda and it takes a while to cut holes. Someone said it was maybe because it doesn't have a spike to drive in to the ice to keep it from moving? Could someone weld something like a spike onto the bottom to solve that problem? I also need to put a fair amount of pressure on mine to get it to cut. Kind of annoying.

Check the ardisam site, they have a line of earth augers named EarthQuake. You could probably order the Ice Auger to fit the powerhead tho.

A quote from their site.

Quote:

Earthquake Earth Auger Powerhead - 43cc Viper engine E43

Earthquake is the largest manufacturer of earth augers in the world. With the E43, you can drill deep into the earth in just seconds. The solid steel, heat treated alloy gears provide maximum power with little maintenance. The handles are coated with a high tech anti-vibration foam to provide comfortable handling.
