hockeybc69
Quote: thats what i dont understand, is we have at a minimum 9 days to shoot a deer with a firearm. isnt that enough time to get looks at multiple deer before blasting away? We(our group) saw a grand total of ZERO deer after 11am opening day of firearms season this year. Wait, I saw a doe I shot with my muzzleloader on Dec 12th. That was all for our group. Doesnt make for a very rewarding season when you hardly even see a deer to pass on. But we arent giving up!And no, this isnt the first time this happened in recent memory. A few years ago, we saw ZERO deer after opening day through the Dec 31st closure. Very very frustrating.
Musky Buck
Quite a few groups are going through this, the 5 tags with rifle and muzzy for quite a few years finally has thinned them out to where it's tough to get numbers back because the does were getting pounded harder than usual with hunters having more time and opportunity than years past. I've seen a huge difference in old zone 4 compared to it being zone 2 now plus you can muzzleload on top of that and for many they'd like to just get a deer any deer by muzzy, it's new to most muzzy hunters not that the muzzy season is a huge harvest, but those deer that are taken barely used to be harvested because people didn't have the choice. There's 70,000 muzzy hunters with 16 days, I wonder how high the number of muzzy tag sales will go before it levels off. There are a lot of factors, apparently not nearly as many does around come fawn time. I used to shed hunt a wintering ground for deer as recently as 5 years ago, that swamp has no wintering deer in it anymore. Someday hopefully it comes back.
