5 New Lakes May Get Muskies.

Mjgrose if your against this fine but why mention anything about spearing. This has nothing to do with spearing.

He is just trying to get under our skin! What happens when the lake gets stocked, then what are people going to complain about? Never will everyone be happy with musky getting put into the lake, but just look at Miltona and how that situation turned around. Like stated above, now the people around the lake are embracing the musky and what it is doing for the area surrounding the lake. It has become a premier musky lake in the state and still is a walleye factory. Everytime I am on the lake, there is still no shortage of guys out there fishing eyes. Alexander is the same way...the pressure on the lake has increased for musky but the walleye guys are still out there catching fish.

In 2008, the DNR stocked 820,000 fry into Tetonka and will stock it again this year going with the every other year program. There is not going to be a shortage of walleye in the lake.

No you insinuated that people you know are causing high mortality (poaching)all in the context of a spearing comment, this type of garbage causes allot of bad blood between sportsmen, I know you think its just fun and games but its putting us against each other.

Look at gull, that has amazing potential but got shot down because of landowners.

Surprisingly, this wasn't the main issue with Gull. The Gull Lake Lake Association did not take a stand on the issue either for or against it, as I understood it. Public support was there in a big way. Well over 80% of public input received was in favor. Unfortunately it got shot down because it turned political. Vocal people with money and connections won out.

Since you seem to know what I'm thinking, can you tell me who will win the vikes game this Sun so I can go fishing?

If I knew what you were thinking, would that make it so I could predicted football games?

I would also like to hear why you hate a fish so much.

I don't know why we have to talk about bait shops, towns people and the like. This is about the people in the area being able to have the opportunity to fish Muskies.

Miltona is a ridiculously good walleye lake. One of many examples of lakes becoming a more healthy fishery when muskies are introduced to lakes that are suited for them. Alexander has come along way as well as becoming one of the better walleye lakes around.

We have all heard the negative attitudes towards muskies. But if you look at the people that are complaining about muskies, you will find these are the same stubborn people that love to complain about anything. It's easy for them to point fingers.

I agree. I am not a muskie fisherman, and I am a spearer. There needs to be more opportunity in central and southern parts of the state for muskies. I WOULD HATE THIS TO TURN INTO ANOHER MUSKIE GUY VS SPEARER THREAD, LIKE THE OTHER 5 THREADS THIS WINTER. I am all for opportunity for all. I believe it is well documented that there will be no bans on spearing. I do believe that there will be more slot lakes in the near future. But not due to the stocking of muskies. I personally do spear on lakes that have muskies and slots, the slot lakes are tough, but I am out there to see the fish. I have only speared 3 fish this year, two-4lbs northerns and a 5lbs sucker. Just my two cents.

Sorry everybody for taking mjgrose seriously. I didn't mean for this thread to become muskie guys vs the spearers. Thats the last thing I want. Hopefully in the future those two sides can work closer together to provide everybody with quality fishing everywhere in the state.
