Generator

i think he took off the old one, im guessing it had pipe threads. guessing he threaded pipe into the exhaust hole and knowing him the muffler is welded to the pipe. it deffinatly made the unit bigger because the muffler is quite large. he said the decible readings at 50 ft went from 85 to 60db

I find it hard to believe a motorcycle muffler would make that big a difference, if any. A lot of the noise from the construction generators is mechanical noise, intake noise, noise from running outside of a closed cabinet...Just my opinion. I guess it's worth a try...

Yes, I am still following the topic. Thank you everyone for your input. I couldn't talk my wife into spending $800 on a Honda so I ended up buying a 1,000 watt Briggs and Stratton off of hsolist. I feel like a got a great deal. I paid $125 - 1,000 watt generator, 4 stroke, 5 years old. Left it in the unheated garage overnight and it started first pull. Hope it works for a while. I figured even 5 years of use out of it would be worth it.....then graduate to the Honda!!!

Thanks again,

Chad

With the money you saved you can buy a 2000 ft extension cord and a louder radio. Sorry, couldn't help it.

Well....The generator is actually pretty quiet. And if I had an extra $800 I would have bought it. Also, how do you justify spending $800 when I won't even use it more than 5 times a year???

I bought a Mcullough 2000w digital generator from Sportsmans Guide about 4 yrs ago for around $650. This thing is just as quiet as a Honda for alot less money. I however haven't seen them in there catalog since but I am thinking they still make them.
