Too COLD!!!

-22 on Gull Lake when we setup. Cold didn't bother me at all as long as you don't stay outside with exposed skin for very long.

Plenty warm in the Eskimo QF6 with the heaters and 4 guys. Unfortunately the fishing was slow, and in this weather did not feel motivated to do any hole hoppin for active fish.

Went out on Saturday and the truck said -23 when we left to walk to the lake. I bought a Killzone 4 man portable on Tuesday and it worked like a champ for its first time out and my Big Buddy heater kept us warm all morning. My friends (plastic) window broke on his Frabil when they flipped the top over them. We marked a ton of fish, but only got a couple of sunnies and a 2 lb northern up to see the light of day. Overall it was fun to get out and try out a new lake.

I have a 4 day trip to Grand Rapids starting thursday where the high is forcasted at -4. Dress warm, stay positive, keep moving until you find active fish then set up in that area. Sure the fishing can be a challenge under HP, but if you hit the ice with the attitude that you will learn something on how to make 'em bite then it is worth it. Then the next time you go out you will have more wisdom to ice fish.

I actually got my wife on the lake Friday, what a woman! The walk gets chilly but if you dress right it's no problem. The only issue is that I'm not willing to stray from the heater in this weather. Pick a spot and stay there. We got luck and picked up a few.

I was out too. Its kinda nice because the lake was quiet. The only time I could say I got a chill was taking down. Other than that I was in the house with the heater on or moving around too much to be cold.

I was out on Webb this past Saturday, it was good inside the portable with the mr. heater on high the whole time (for fishing in sweatshirt of course) it was around -3 or something like that around 2:30 when we setup. It was -15 tearing down around 6:30, we were about 1/2 mile from shore, we didn't drive out. Long story short, I need new gloves! Within about 10 minutes time my hands were numb and I still have a stabbing feeling in my pinkie.

I fished the laker opener in Northwest Ontario from Friday to Sunday. We never let anyone tell us the temps all weekend and chose to simply refer to it as "COLD". We finally heard the temp from a CO at noon on the last day and he had -12 F on his thermometer. Before we left on Sunday afternoon we were told lows for Friday and Saturday night both hit -30 F. That made sense when we had big problems getting snowmobiles started each morning.

Oh did I mention we left camp before sunrise fished all day and came back in the dark each night, and I spent 1 hour in a portable all weekend. The rest of the time I was on the ice out in the elements!
