I had a scrat come up my buddies hole in the channel on Chisago.

It had weeds in it's mouth and it scared the HECK out of me. I was out the door in no time flat. My buddy still laughs about the furry little creature that came to visit. Meanwhile I was tripping over my skirt trying to get out! Yeah it was funny when I finally calmed down. But man that scared me, and I aint scared of nuthin ;-)

I really don't like anything but fish coming out of the hole while fishing. Must be too many scary movies where the rabid scrat kills everybody in sight?!?!

Ferny.

I think Ed takes the cake so far. I thought a muskrat was ferocious enough, but a mad momma beaver? no thank you!

I'm also glad to hear i'm not the only one! I was going to take it as a sign of 'YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!', but now I know it is just my luck smile.

I was fishing a small pond that has an airarator on it, so a part of the pond never freezes. I was watching my aqua view and something large and brown swam by it. It was so close to the cam that I couldn't tell what it was. It then came back and attacked my cam. It must of rammed it about 6 times. I knew that what ever was down there didn't like my cam in his house. So I decided I was going to pull up my cam before it totally destroys it. At this point I still don't know what I am dealing with. I quickly reel up my cam and the monster must of watched it go up the whole. So now I'm curious to see exactly what was down there. I literally have my nose about 2 inches away from the water peering down the whole (6 ft of clear water). All of a sudden I see a head and in no time I was nose to nose with a BEAVER. I jumped back in surprise and panic. No I'm in laying in the back of my flip over sled and I have a beaver in my shack. I don't know who was more scared me or the beaver. As fast as he shot up that whole, he did a 180 and right back down the whole. He was in my shack for probably 2 seconds but it felt like 10 min. I haven't fished that pond since.

Late 60's or early 70's a bunch of guys where spearing pike on Eagle Lake north of Willmar. One guy had his black Lab with him and throws down at a hammer handle northern--misses--dog jumps in after it. 2 seconds later the lab comes up in another guys dark house hole. 2 guys very freaked.

It was written up in one of the outdoor magazines at the time.

I have had two muskrats come up the hole over the years.

Startling to put it mildly.

In the early '80s, on ODowds, my buddy had a permanent and

a female mink adopted the shack. She would dive when we got there and then come back up in the house while we were there.

She wasn't agressive so we left her alone, fished and went home. She was there 3 or 4 days and then she was gone.

This one is the best I've ever heard. Thanks for the great laugh! laugh

Not nearly as funny as the beaver but I did Jig up a lantern on one of Eddy's perms one year out on Mille Lacs. Had to chip the hole to get it in the house, still dont know how it got in there, I still use it to this day. New fuel and a new mantle and it was good to go.

Love the topic!

Last year right before the ice went off I was fishing a west metro lake for panfish. They were biting like mad but I was having to do some sorting to get a meal for the frying pan.

I set the hook on one and brought it up the hole and bent over to grab it off the ice to push it back down the hole. As I bent over my vexilar cord jumped in the hole and then a 3lb northern came flying out of the hole and landed at my feet. I bet I jumped about 3 feet in the air! It scared the [PoorWordUsage] out of me! The northern must have been chasing the fish I was reeling in and got stuck in the hole facing up and ended up shooting out of the hole onto the ice in front of me.

I then pushed him back down the hole head first.

We were fishing on lake Osakis on my b_day and it was dark out so we got the lantern goiing and about 10 min later the portable went dark and all of a sudden the drag went zippin on my reel so I started to reel up and the drag kept singing so I had lined it up and out of the hole came my coleman lantern and my fish hook hooked the handle perfectly the mantels weren't even broke until the water all came out of the globeand it was still pressurized so I put new mantels on it and light it and we fished for anothwer 4 hours. not the craziest but you had to be there

The craziest thing I've ever seen come through a hole in the ice was me. I fell through by myself. The crazy part is I came out. I have also had the muskrat visit. We were fishing outside and as it jumped at me I kicked it out of mid air and it ran away.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
