Starting a Nils

What is the process you all use to start your Nils?

I just got a new Nils about a week ago and am on my 3rd tank and still haven't figured out the best way to start it. I did the proper break in and am now running Sabre Pro at 80:1 but still can't get it to start well from cold. I've tried priming a couple times, priming a lot, and not priming at all. I've tried full, half, and no choke. I still can't get it started from cold with less than 10 pulls. If I drill holes then let it sit for a hour or so and drill more it starts right up on first pull. It's only the first time starting it in a day that I have trouble with. Not really a huge deal but I know it should be starting easier than it has been.

It will get better the more you use it I had the same thing happen when I first got mine.

I believe I had to prime 5 pumps with full choke on and it would pop off after 1 or 2 pulls sometimes 3.

I now I prime twice with choke on with 1 0r 2 pulls when cold just got in to the habit of that.

When I prime I look at the return line, if gas is getting pushed through then that is enough of a prime.

Full choke and no throttle. Normally it'll fire and start within 3 pulls. I have to immediately take the choke off when it starts. Let her warm up a bit and start drilling.

That is for a cold start. Once it is warmed up no choke or prime.

I'm also with Surface Tension on this one but when (IF ) my Nils does not start with the first pull but fires after priming and choke is on I take the choke right off and give her one more pull and she's running always .

There is a niche to getting the hang of using a primer and although my Jiffy has one too it is so nice and easy to see the fuel going through the Nils clear fuel line so you don't overdue it .

Every auger has a sweet spot .
