I've run my LX-5 for significant periods of time when the digital meter stated "0".

i used my lx-5 for the 1st time today. i had trouble reading my bait had to keep the gain on 3 and i was in only 13' of water. the true color is gonna take some getting used too i used a vex for years. 1 thing that was odd is i had the 5' zoom on, nbt, and sfl at the same time, but when i went to shut the sfl off it wouldnt with the zoom on.

Correction..SFL is automatically on in zoom mode. NBT can be turned on or off any time.

thanks. i like the orange and the anywhere zoom is what sold me. i did go to the narrow beam right away. prolly why i lost my bait. 12 or 13' i'll try the wide beam instead. it caught me 1 today bobber went down, i set the hook, nothin there. put it back down, bobber went down, set it again, nuttin! put it down, bobber went down! set it, Nuthin Again! Reeled it up, four inch walleye chokin on my crappie minnow that was half its size

I run in narrow beam 99% of the time no matter the depth, I just prefer watching the bait I'm working, deadstick will tell me when I have a bite. And I hate watching my partners baits LOL. But then again it is fun to mess with his Vex when he's not paying attention and I switch to the wide beam and turn up the gain.

i caught 6 papermouths with it today. The 5 ft zoom is addicting and theres NO missin that beam when one comes in. And no interference with my fl-8se. they work well together. then the fl-8 started makin a scratching noise and i could see it was blurrin out the display. So i took it apart and there was crud on the wheel spinnin against the inside of the display plate. Then i found out why. No rubber seal on the vex. its plastic against plastic! It let crud get inside. It needs that gasket. Anyways Alot quiter after i cleaned it up. Sounds new:) Good time to sell lol

The Marcum HSOforum says they are out of stock, are they discontinuing the LX5? If not anybody know were I can get one for $400? I bet Marcum comes out with a Flat Screen model shortly to compete with the bird and vex
