Making a hitch

I was wondering the same thing. But I just ordered one form the local bodyshop in town. The owner dables in parts for snowmobiles, atv, and motorcycles and got a heck of a deal. $15 for a nice hitch that not only bolts on the bumper but under the seat as well, looks like it will hold up to pulling a good size portable. I got figuring I couldnt build a nice quality one that cheap counting my man hours.

Beware of the Parts Unlimited over the bumper only $15 hitch. It fit one of my older sleds, but won't fit my 2002 XC without drilling holes in bumper. I have the one tipup mentioned that goes under the seat and "around" the bumper on my yammie venture and it is the best. I think $25 or $30.

I just installed one last night. I just took a beefy strap hinge and drilled holes and mounted it up. Drilled out a little bigger for where the pin goes in. Already had the hinge so was cheap enough and will work FAR better than what i had. Had to modify the tow bar to the new configuration and looks like it will work. For your question though, an eyebolt will work fine. I would wonder what you are pulling though, just a rope? It is really nice to have a rigid tow bar on your fish house or sled.
