Bad Transducer?

GFNER

Question

I've got a Marcum flasher that gets a good bottom reading but I need to turn the gain almost to the max just to see my jigging spoon. Just bought and charged a new battery so I know it's not that. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

My vexilar was doing the same thing, someware on there web site I found a troubleshooting section for the ducer and I had to hold it like 36" off the floor and the screen was supposed to read like 9'(these numbers are a guess as this was a couple years ago). Any way the test said the ducer was bad so I bought a new one and it works like brand new again.

That is acually 24" off the hard floor and at a minimum gain to read it as a solid target in reds and the jig in green.

The higher you turn the gain up the worse off the ducer is.

The reading should be 9' at 24" in 20 foot mode.

Sounds like you've got the LX1, which had many reports of bad ducers. I've got the LX1 and am on my 3rd ducer. It seems like they go bad if you try shooting through the ice frequently. The LX3 and LX5 have different ducers and so far haven't had the same issues.
