Strikemaster Help

I have had my Lazer in the shop 3 times now and it still floods, they say it runs and starts great in the shop. I informed them that it does not when outside. I have had the auger for approximately 8 years and never a problem till now.

Any ideas???

You have a simple problem. The diaphragm is starting to get hard from all the years of having fuel on it. The material gets hard, and will cause the diaphragm to warp. This puts pressure on the needle inlet valve, allowing the fuel to run through the carb when it is not needed.

A simple carb clean and installation of a carb kit will solve the problem for the next 8 years.

I recently had a bad flooding problem, with gas going everywhere when I pulled the starter rope. I had to get a whole new carb kit. After labor it was a $103 fix. Then i had to bring it somewhere else and got a new pull cord, blades, and a pitch adjustment... Another $68. I originally bought the auger for $200 then got a blade guard for $15 so I'm up to $386 for a now basically new Mag Express! Took her out around 7pm tonight (JUST GOT IT BACK!) and she cut like butter....

Sorry to tail off with my crazy auger story but just so you know, you are not the only one!

Do you let it warm up prior to drilling? Are the blades dull and are you pushing down and applying pressure as you drill. If your blades are sharp and the machine is warmed up you should not have to apply any pressure and it should go through like a hot knife through butter. The only other think I can think of is your gas mixture. Is it too heavy? It would be helpful If you said what kind you were using and how old it is too. I run a three year old Strikemaster lazer mag 8 inch. I have had some issues with my pitch and have corrected it by removing one of the blades. Weird I know but with one blade rather than two it doesnt get bound up and it buzzes right through. I should take it up to Big Lake but I'm too busy.

Hard to answer you question. What brand and model of auger do you have? Is your carb adjustable or non adjustable. Is your fuel cap vent mechanical and does it work?

Also what horse power do you have. A two horse is different from and three horse model as to adjustments and where items are located, such as gov parts and linkages.

More info needed.

Still waiting for the local authorized repair shop to get my auger back to me. They say the carb is back ordered and I have not heard anything from them unless I contact them. I will always have a Strikemaster but will never return to the repair this shop if needed again in the future.
