I have this stuff on a couple of my ice rods. I really like it. I always hated the knot that the instructions state to use on the package so i just always use the classic fishing knot (6 twists, through the bottom loop then through the loop you just made). I don't think i have ever had a knot fail on my. Usually I am bit off by a pike with the light line I am using.

I use a palomar on all hooks up to 80lb line--few failures--unless you cross the legs on the hook--or swivel. The San Diego is a good knot. On real light line, 2-6 I just use a trilene/clinch. To attach light line to heavy(dacron/spectra)--I use an albright. However, on spectra types lines--palomar is hard to beat for a clean connection.

On real heavy stuff--135 spectra with 200 mono top shot an albright/bimini to connect and a clinch on the mono to hook if I am not crimpimg. This has worked for 200lb plus tuna.
