8-Ball
Hi All- We are considering the installation of a security system in our home. Could some of you chime in on different companies/systems and the good/bad of said companies you have experienced? Thanks in advance...8-Ball. 8-Ball
I heard that. This (sec. system) is for when I am at work. At home, "meet my little friend" as Pacino said in Scarface...

Swill
We have Brinks home security, now called Broadview.Had them 3 years since I was broken into, and have not has issues since than. Signs are key, and extra features are a must. Ours is easy for the young kids to turn on and off, comes with glass break sensors, standard window and door alarms, and separate emergency notification for law enforcement, medical, and fire. Fire and Ambulance is an automatic response, and law is a quick call to the home or cell phone, if approrprate infor is not given to cancell the alarm, then police / sheriff units are dispatched. One key item I like with our system is the smoke alarms. The smoke alarms are tied directly into your home security, so if a fire starts and triggers an alarms, the fire department automatically dispatched to our home. Great, since if we are not home, and a fire starts without this tie in, then the fire would just burn the place totally down.
8-Ball
Swill- If you dont mind me asking, what did it $ to have your system put in and what do you pay monthly? You can shoot me an e-mail if you would rather do it that [email protected]. Thx. 8-Ball
Swill
8-ballWe paid 35 a month for our security system, and with our insurance discount, it runs 25 / month. Also, our home is 2300 sq feet, with a walkout, and we paid about 260.00 I know for sure if was under 350, but I can't remember the exact amount right now. That included 2 control panels, all the window / door sensors, lower level glass break indicators, signage, and garage sensors. Hope that helps-Swill

mikemac
8-BallI used Schmidt Security out of Hugo and also have some friends that used Ray as well. Top notch customer service, equipment and installation. I wanted to own the equipment while alot of the others you do not own the equipment. They use a number of different devices (wireless and hard wired) so you can customize your house to cover what ever wishes you have.

brentr69
8-ballWe used Floyd Security out of Bloomington. They used both hardwire and wireless. They did a very neat job on the install and were very nice in dealing with. We pay about $32.00 monthly for monitering and maintainance. If you have the maintainance, any problems you have they will repair at no charge. We had also received quotes from ADT but the salesmans arrogance turned me off, Brinks were very nice but only wanted to do a hardwired system and never checked back with me after the sales presentation. 8-Ball
Brent- so you did a wireless system from Floyd? I worry about that type simply because what if you are away and the batteries die out and someone attempts to get in? Thats my main concern with wireless. brentr69
8-ballI have had the system for 3.5 years. Only problems I have had were the magnet on our bsmt sliding door was too small causing the alarm to go off at night, and the magnet fell off one time. They came out and each time repaired the problems at no charge. We have not had any other issues with the system. If you have them come out to give you an estimate ask about the batteries. brentr69
8-ballI have not had to change the batteries. 3.5 years and still o.k. They hardwired what they could and used wireless for the rest.
