bigbad401
Last year I did an excel spreadsheet to decide on the flasher I was going to get. I had an old FL-8 that didn't have IR so it was time for an upgrade. I had about $300 to spend so I put the 3 entry level flashers on the sheet and filled out all the features that I could find on all 3. For the money Vexilar didn't even show up. I decided to put the FL-20 on the sheet also to give Vexilar a shot, but still the Marcum and Bird were comparable or better than the Vex, all for a lot less money. I was skeptical going with the Bird ICE35 because of being so new, but it had the one feature that I really wanted; dual-cone transducer. But either way, the Bird or Marcum would have done me great. In my eyes, you don't get value with an FL-8 compared to the VX-1 or the ICE35. Like others have said, these units are comparable to the more expensive Vexilar units. harvey lee
I do believe that many times a sales person will suggest what they use and may not be well informed on the qualities of other product in that same area.Company incentivies will also play into what the salesperson will suggest. castmaster
I couldnt figure out why Marcum was highlighted in blue throughout these threads. Come to figure out its because you can click on it to be taken to the OutdoorProStore where one can purchase a Marcum flasher!
chrismackmn
Agronomist_at_IA, curious but what did he have to say about the hummingbirds?
Agronomist_at_IA
Agronomist_at_IA, curious but what did he have to say about the hummingbirds? Basicly just told me specs on it. Didn't say to much after he knew I had done some research. Looking at them myself, they look like a good unit. I'd be willing to try one. Looks like the zoom function worked the same way as a marcum. trapperdirk
Hehe Agronomist . Well done on putting some egg on the face of one who many would trust to be an expert and get good advise from .I bet the salesman won't be so quick on the jump the next time . lol I too had to do that once .Nothing wrong with a vex and a humminbird I will test this season to compare although I am a marcum user .TD
