Ed Carlson
I am not gonna say one or the other is better than the other (got that?) but 92% is impossible. 92 out of every 100 flashers sold is a Vex?? No way, Jose'. Showdowns, MarCums, Lowrances and now Humminbirds out there. I would be willing to bet it is more like 50%, but with 5 total companies, getting 50% of the market share is impressive. I'm thinking it may be more in line with 92% in use today may be Vexilar's? Most every Vexilar unit made is still in use today, baring the ones totally lost due to damage, fire, ect, but the bulk of them are still in use. Over the span of 50 years that is a lot of Vexilar's, so that adds up preaty quickly. As you said, still very impressive.
CNY Tim
92% of market share that's amazing You guys made my day..
Lip_Ripper Guy
If 92% of units in use today are Vexilars, I'll send $100 to your favorite charity. I certainly don't have the hard data, but if it is true, I would see no reason for Vexilar to not release those stats or use it in their marketing. DTro
I think what is being said is that 92% of all Vex’s sold are still being used today. Or at least that is what Ed is trying to say. I have NO idea how they would quantify that, but who knows. Maybe they all have radio tracking devices in them
bigbad401
Granted I don't know a whole lot of people that ice fish, but of them that I do know there are 3 Vex, 2 Birds and 1 Lowrance. I know an equal amount of people that don't use electronics while ice fishing. Maybe someone could set up a non-scientific poll of the users on this forum to find out what we all use? Matt Breuer
MN isn't the only state in the union guys. I challenge any of you to find a Marc or 'Bird in Texas. Heck, find me a Marc in Gander Mt. Last year I watched nearly every Vexilar (roughly 40) go out of the Gander store here in Bemidji, as well as 2 Hummingbirds (1 returned the next day and traded for an FL-20), 0 Lowrance units, and they didn't carry Marc.I'm also unsure that Lowrance would be clumped in, is their ice machine real-time sonar? Or is it just a depth-finder dressed up like a flasher?Someone mentioned a Vex rep handing them a "fact sheet" that had bad info. I can't find a single word like you mentioned in any of the materials put into Vex rep hands.Setting up a poll here would be useless to get accurate info..... bigbad401
That is why it is a "non-scientific" poll with users of this forum.

Do they know an exact number of ppl that have thrown their flashers away? no

New2TheFly
Flashers work just as well on open water. All of these companies would be foolish to target ice fishermen only.
