The simple hard fact is that having a local sports team is nothing more than a luxury. The city and the state will survive without the Vikings. Period.

You people need to realize there is more to life than football and the state is staring at a $5 Billion deficit in a recession, no less. Hardly a time to be ponying up more money when the revenue is trailing the expenses.

Although the Dome is not pretty it still works and there is no reason why it can't continue to work while Zygi puts pennies into his stadium piggy bank for a new one and the state tries to get it's budget back on track.

The other option is:

Garden Commercial Properties

Attn: Zygi Wilf

820 Morris Turnpike

Short Hills, NJ 07078

%New Stadium

Send in whatever you can contribute. After all, YOU'RE the one that wants a new stadium. So how bad do you want it? I'm expecting to hear back tomorrow from those who sent in their donations.

Your take on this is somewhat rediculous. Is it not a proven fact that sports franchises are an assett to a community and money invested in them come back to the state many times over in time? Keeping a sports franchise in your community is no different than any other large employer.

You have to invest money to make money. According to your take, we should just let any business that is currently receiving state subsidies go elsewhere. I hate to tell you but we would all have to follow them because there would not be many jobs left here.

I'd like the vikings to stay and for the owner to pony up the money for the new stadium. The Twin Cities isn't a large enough market for the number of teams we have. I just don't agree subsidizing billionaires. I highly doubt Ziggy will be using Minnesota companies to build the stadium.

The country is messed up enough with 1900 page healthcare bills, campaign financing, filibusters now we need 60 votes to pass anything, Dems and Republicans are crooks, lobbyists, term limits, Pork projects, CNBC, Fox, open borders, foreign wars.

Let's not deal with any real issues, let's waste some time figureing out a stadium bill, so the we can watch the vikings on Sunday. We had to add the arts to the outdoors amendment for crying out loud.

$5 Billion deficit. Does that mean anything to you? Take the Helga Horns off for a minute and think about it. Do what's right, not what you WANT. If the Vikings are gone the money that was spent in that area will still be spent, the fans will just spend it in other areas. Don't be foolish.

This has nothing to do with who likes what team. It's about doing the right thing in this current economy. Rick keeps harping that I'm a Packer fan and want the Vikings gone and that isn't the case whatsoever on either account. The only chicken little rhetoric going on here is that the team will leave if they don't get a new stadium. Nothing more than a threat and extortion.

The racino is the best option behind Zygi financing it himself, as this revenue is somewhat voluntary compared to a local or state tax which is regressive, much like the dedicated funding tax which is hurting those who can afford it the least. But, last year the racino concept was proposed to help neutralize our current $5 Billion+ deficit and it was pooh-pooh'd.....most likely due to it being proposed by someone with an ® behind their name which is nothing more than childish politics.

I don't see why they should push the racino idea to fund a stadium now, when just last year it wasn't acceptable to use those funds to chop away at the massive debt the (D's) have spent us into. It sure doesn't seem like the priorities are in order here, and that is what has put us into this mess into the first place......massive spending in frivolous areas......and a sports entertainment arena is as frivolous as it gets.

The argument that "they might as well tax me for something I enjoy because they're going to tax me anyway" is absurd. If we keep volunteering for taxes, they'll keep obliging. How many times do you need to hit your thumb with a hammer before you figure out it hurts? Cripes.......

I heard something the other day that is appropriate here: "If you're $50,000 in debt, shame on you. If you're $500,000 in debt, shame on the bank". Well, the citizens of this state are the "bank". Shame on us for letting it happen and continue to happen.

No, I just understand that I'm not swinging the hammer and have no control whatsoever on when or how hard it will come down.

Sorry, but with a $5 Billion+ deficit no legislator in their right mind would support a tax increase for a new stadium for a private company.

Plus, there there has never been an instance of a legislator losing his or her job due to how they voted on a proposed stadium in the entire country, ever.

You want reality? There it is.

Unfortunately, whether a legislator votes for or against a new stadium will probably influence who the mouthbreathers vote for in this state.

Oh really, yeah we have never seen legislators at any level vote yes on anything frivolous or rediculous before with a high deficit problem. What world are you living in?

Just what I said. Sorry that you have to live in reality with the rest of us. I'll repeat it one more time in case it was too difficult to understand the first time: No legislator has ever lost their elected position due to voting against a proposed stadium.

And i'll repeat what i said. As if legislators have never voted for anything frivolous when facing a bad deficit situation. What world are you living in?

So do higher costs of doing business here, i.e. taxes.

Revenue for who? A private company, that's who.

The economic study was done by who? Those who want the stadium perhaps? What does anyone expect it to say?

So the Vikes have been successful in the Dome this year you say? So then why do they need a new one? They don't NEED one, they WANT one. Want, want, want....everybody wants. smirk

This isn't Sister Mary's School for the Poor that were talking about here. The NFL and their teams are worth billions of dollars and people are bending over backwards to give them their money to build a stadium? Just because of some loyalty to a sports team? Really?

The money that was spent by fans on the Vikings will be spent elsewhere in the economy......probably more important things like their families, gasp!

At what point do we just start working for the government? Might as well send it all in the way you people are talking. Tax? Sure! I'll pay it as long as I get a stadium! What's next? And then what after that? When does it end? When are you happy? When every dime is given to the government I guess.

If the subject wasn't a Vikings stadium all of you would be in the same boat as me, and don't kid yourself.

Spending it on your families? What is wrong with enjoying the vikings with our families? Seems to me the vikings are a big thing with a lot of families.

Keep ignoring the benefits of this team to the downtown area. Keep pretending that somehow the Wilfs are the only people benefitting from the franchise. Keep pretending if the vikings go that no one downtown will be affected. Keep forgetting the things that help you make your point.

Tell me what im missing in my statement. Our government has been in massive debt for years yet we spend millions of dollars to find out the effects of how the methane in cow farts affects the ozone layer.

What is it i don't get? I like the vikings and im willing to pay a tax to have them here. If you don't like it....TOUGH! I could care less if you like it or not!

So send your money in. That's my point! You're trying to force those who don't believe they need a new stadium to pay for it. That's why I was posting Zygi's address and finally somebody said it. "if you don't like it, tough, I don't care if you like it or not!".

Thank you!
