LOOKING TO BUY A NEW DEPTH FINDER. I HAVE A CLEARWATER CLASSIC, BUT AM LOOKING FOR A CHANGE. ANY INPUT ON THE NEW TECHNOLOGY?

As said, the search button will give you a novel about the size of "War and Peace"... do your home work.. the top 3 units out there are the MarCum LX-5, the Vexilar FL-20 and the Humminbird 55.. all fantastic units.. and all those companies have lesser cheaper units..

I have an FL-18, and LX-3 a LX-5, and a Showdown. The one I bring with me is the LX-5, its the one I have the most confidence in.. if I have friends fishing with me I borrow them one of the others..

dewey1, an FL8SLT would be an upgrade.

RE: Deitz Dittrich's response about depth finders, how do you like the Showdown? I've been thinking about getting one, due to the apparent ease of use. Do they work well?

One gripe I have heard about the Showdown is you have to send it in for system updates, the other units do not need computerized updating. Other than that, I have heard alot of good stuff about the Showdown
