Ice Line

I havent had good luck with ice specific line, just don't like how it handles. I've never had a problem using regular monofilament but I have switched to using a lot of copolymer line now. Thinking about trying some flurocarbon this year, I've heard that it is way less visible than anything else and I fish some pretty clear lakes.

Berkley Vanish has been my go to line for all species over the past couple of years. I don't have a complaint, even use it to fish for lakers in 100' of water. it does not stretch as much a mono so getting a good hook set even at those depths can be achieved! Good Luck!

Fluorocarbon has a lot memory so the line stays coiled up when it's off the spool and makes it harder to detect strikes using light jigs in deep water. I use 6 lb trilene XL on a dead my dead stick set up and 4 lb fireline crystal on my jigging set up. The key with mono is to keep fresh line on and keep the line twist to a minimum or it gets very weak and wraps around the guides a lot.

I have to start over this year because I forgot most of what I was using. I know I used some braided line, gamma and fire ice I think. I liked the diameter and the no stretch but froze up pretty quick while outside and I had a hard time tying knots.

No fault of the line its just with 2 partial fingers missing a stiffer line like a mono or copolymer makes easier knot tying. Specialty in low light situations with diminishing eye sight with age. Going to have to break down and get reading glasses I guess

The new Suffix ice magic I am going to try. and its pretty orangy yellow so easier to site fish.

P Line floroice that a try also

And the Trilene micro ice.

I am sure I will have at least one braided line set up jigging rapalas either gamma or fire ice

Ice line smush line, I have used Stren Gold for tightlining panfish with a Vanish leader for years, Walleye get plain ol Trilene XL in 6 to 10 lb test, with the right leader. My indoor rods get moss green Power Pro, again with a leader, same with sight fishing rods. Looking forward to trying Clam's new ice line this year, but in years past, its been the biggest gimmick going to get people to buy an "ice line".

Cabela's Power Pro 3/4 pd. diameter, 5 lb. test in moss green to a duo lock snap sometimes a barrel swivel and leader with 6 pd. Vanish or P-Line CX Premium to a snap. I just saw the Phantom red is on sale $4 off for 150 yd spool... I fish in my trap most of the time when fishing for eyes.
