sbro73
Less than two weeks left, boys and girls!!! How many die hards are out there, that will have to have to have that Muskie Rod pryed out of there cold, dead hands!!!
50inchpig
My rod doesn't have to be pried out of my hands late season - I usually get my gloves wet and just throw it in the drink all by myself.3 casts in a row two falls ago - beat that! RuKiddingMe
I almost did that with one of JRedig's setups Saturday evening, I was using his curado on the st.croix and the button was pushed in so I thought. Thank god it didn't go in, we were in 20 FOW...Oh yeah and I'm still getting out as time permits...Mattb
50inchpig
Matt - Wait until you throw his Predator/Saltist combo to do that
RuKiddingMe
I was throwing that setup prior to that, man is that sweet, but to be honest I think I would prefer the 30 on the predator... then again after throwing my 30 all season I guess I got used to that size. 50inchpig
I'm selling my 30 after throwing the 20, probably would have caught 10 more fish if not for the backlashes!
cjac
After throwing the 40 all season I am off to the chiropractor....... Definitely downsizing that one next year.
JRedig
You guys are funny. 20 is where it's at, same power as the 30 and much smaller/lighter. Go chuck pounders for a day, you'll be glad your reel is a little bit lighter. If that combo went in the drink, I think i'd consider immediately diving in after it, regardless of water temp or depth. A buddy of mine chucked his trinidad on a expensive rod with a pounder on the end into mille lacs this year, saved it by snagging the line immediately with a deep diver. I'm out till the bitter end...I think I can figure out who else is too. http://www.fishingminnesota.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2062872/Anyone_still_out#Post2062872
Esox_Magnum
I know my Predator floats with a DCG and my Tackle Industries floats long enough to get it back with a 11" curlie sue tied on. I had a buddy throw his over a couple years ago the reel beat the mag dawg to the bottom. Nothing like throwing away a brand new TB custom Steele. Luckily we did get it back 20 minutes later. I still tease him about that, my Shimanos, Okumas and Toro will float his old Abu's are an anchor.
cheddar 86
God I hope I can get out again soon. I didn't have much luck late fall last year so this year I've been drifting/trolling suckers on a quick-strike rig. It makes me really wonder when I have 10 hour days doing this and covering a fair amount of water and no bite. On the positive side I don't throw my gear in the water..hehe

JRedig
HAHA, yeah...she was only 53 or so with a belly bigger than most at the jenny craig center...who wants a fish that small? It was all I could do to keep her from getting hooked!
AnglerX
It aint over till it's over! Minnetonka last Saturday had 6 fish up to the boat that would not commit. One tanker. St. Croix River Sunday same thing. Mille Lacs on Wednesday and Thursday. Finally saw the one and know her address! Monster fish are showing up but getting them to eat is another story. Upper St. Croix today, had a little whippersnapper on and thats about it. I'll be out almost every day from here on out and might have an open seat here and there, if interested email [email protected].
rcook72
Angler, Mind giving a rook some help on Tonka? Just wondering where to narrow down my search on Tonka and types or presentations for this time of year. Thanks in advance.
AnglerX
All the fish we saw last weekend were actually on flats in shallow water under 6 feet. Larger flats with steeper breaks.
JRedig
Probably the most powerful tip right now is if you find green weeds, fish 'em. Don't care the type. We're sloooooowly approaching a water temp where they'll all be brown soon, then I think the game will finally change. Long time coming this year!
