Rebel9921
Anybody having any luck out there??? To be specific... we are hunting 44-acres private land adjacent to 180-acres private land and state land couple miles east of Willow River... In our party, we have three tags but no anterless permits... as we planned this trip after the deadline (Sept 10th) passed...Altogether, we have sighted over 8 Does... but not seen any bucks til on our way home last Friday night... saw a BIG buck crossing the dirt road at about 10-10:15pm... We cannot understand why Area 183 has been deemed lottery area seeing how many does we've seen... which we would've been more than happy to fill our tags with but it wasnt to be... due to not having the permits... not_nuf_time
I've hunted there for five full days, and seen two baldies no bucks. Scrapes aren't being tended on our property and very little sign of deer. Now the weekend before opener my son and I saw a dozen does and fawns at one time on our fields. My son was all excited figuring he was locked in to getting a deer this year, not.
bearslayer
We hunt 183 also ( Bruno area), having a hard time with antlers. Seen a few opening morning, nothing since. Mostly does and few spikes. Had pictures from weeks leading up to the season of several decent bucks, none now that the season has started. Grainbelt
I hunted five full days and saw a glimpse of two deer. I didn't see them well enough to tell if they were buck or doe. Both were single deer so they may have been bucks. I saw no scrapes or rubs anywhere and I covered a lot of ground. The last two years I got two deer each year and saw many. This year it was hard to find a deer.I can understand why the area went to lottery. Was it a bad winter? I heard wolves howling nearby 2 mornings while I was heading to the morning ground blind. Plenty of those around.
hartner62
I bow hunt the area probably every other weekend and see deer every time. My relatives probably filled about 75% of their tags with a mix of bucks and does so it might just be the area you are in.
Rebel9921
I've seen plenty of deer tracks, bedding areas, and "bathroom" on the land... but could only find one tree that has been scraped... Im hoping that the weekend will be much better...
chippy
We're in 183 by Moose Lake, saw some scrapes on our land. My dad was able to take a fork 5 pointer opening morning. That pretty much ends our hunt, since we have venison now! I went there last week, it was quite rainy. Didn't see anything. Wait it I did. 1 Grouse and 2 grey squirrels! Fishpondc
Hunted near Bruno. Our group went 5 for 9 with 2 does, a spike, a 10 and a monster 8. All were taken opening weekend, private land. We had 2 people up from opening weekend through second weekend without seeing anything.
