NoWiser
I usually hunt the Walker area with a big group, but got sick of the crowds. This year my dad, a highschool friend, and myself will be portaging all of our gear, plus two canoes, about a half mile through the woods to an unnamed river where we will then paddle about 1/2 hour upstream to set up a small tent to hunt out of. The area looks promising, so hopefully no one else has the same idea.

Coach1310
For many years .... an old converted bus.... you know freezing cold on the bottom bunk, 100 degrees on the top bunk For about 5 years... a decent little cabin Now... a palacial lakehome with heated floors, granite counters, fireplaces etc.... It still doesn't seem right, but it is nice to have friends with $$$$$$. Good luck and be safe all!
fishinfey8
we used to sleep in an old old log cabin built by a log jammer on the river many years ago. I don't exaclty remember but it is somewhere around 75+ yrs. old. This as you can imagine was really cool for many years especially to watch the structure hold up for sooo many years. Last year though, we decided to build a new cabin in it's place (the old one had animals and all kinds of stuff living in it)and we had to burn the old one down. I'll post pics if I can find any but it was a cool peice of northern mn history thats for sure...
NoWiser
There aren't any roads or trails, I'm 100% sure of that. I've spent 2 years looking at topo maps, aerial photos, and anything I could get my hands on to find this spot. This fall I was up there for 2 long weekends and one normal weekend scouting access points and eliminating areas with signs of other hunters. Spent lots of time talking to other hunters in the surrounding areas, and locals, and I am 90% sure we'll have about 1 square mile to ourselves. We did end up canoeing up there last weekend and walked a big chunk of land and the only sign of people was an old board nailed between two trees about 20 years ago. In my 13 years of deer hunting, I have never been so excited before. We'll pack in tomorrow and hunt through Monday, and then probably come back for another 3 days the second weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to post a picture of a nice buck next week! I wish the forecast was for cooler weather, but as long as its dry I won't complain! Good luck everyone! RIPN LIPS
Thats a sweet spot you have Harmonica. Nothinig says it better than a 4 wheeler and deer horns over the door. Good luck this season.

They canoed to where they thought they were in the middle of nowhere .. were excited until the ATVs woke them up as they rolled in on a trail they had no idea was there. aberg22
Check out our hunting shack/tree stand video. We built this spring. Camped out almost all summer. Can wait to shoot a deer out the window. I was hooking up the heater 2 nights ago and looked out the window about 5:30p and saw 4 does 30 yards away.
