tom_guy
I have not been able to get up north until tomorrow so should i set up a stand sit on the ground or set up a blind? Will setting up a stand this late spook the deer?
Arctic
Unless you already have decent shooting lanes, a ground blind won't work too well up north. Ideally, you need to get up in the trees. A climbing stand would be a nice choice if you are alone, but a portable ladder stand is great if you have someone to help you set it up. Another option, if you have any natural openings or clearcuts in the area, would be to sit on a stump or windthrow and watch the edges.IMO, the less scent and disturbance you bring to your area, the better the hunting. Wanderer
What type of stand? If you have a hang on stand, definately use it. Often the first time your in there is the best time.Just in general, if you have a stand that you can set up quietly you should be much better off than being on the ground in an un prepped area.Good luck this weekend! TrophyEyes
I would say get a climber. Or a second option would be to still hunt depending on the land and the other hunters in the area.
CrowRiverRat83
Set up a stand if you have a hang on or climber. Just go in and take your time setting it up, making sure to be as quiet as possible. Try not to wander around too much looking for the perfect spot. Coach1310
Do whatever increases your time in the woods.... If a stand will allow you to hunt more/stay longer..hang a stand. Bottom line is BE IN THE WOODS! Good luck and be safe.
