Not sure of their retailers in Minnesota, but was wondering if you are aware you also have to purchase your own "auger/bit" part...gets kinda spendy. At least last year that was the way they sold them. Basically you're buying just the powerhead. Might have changeed since then..

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on which Ice Gator Model to buy, and where is the best place to buy them? I can't seem to find much for retailers for them.

I am looking at purchasing one as well. From what I have found, about the only way to get one is to buy it online. I have not been able to find any retailers in MN. As for which one to get. They appear to offer the 'competitor' which you would hook up directly to a 12volt battery. The 'Attacker' which is for 8" bits or smaller, and the 'Seeker' which is for 6" bits or smaller.

I believe that the Ice Gator HSOforum lists GM as a retailer. Will be interesting to see once GM gets their ice gear on display...

Also, RebelSS is correct. Their HSOforum says that they are just selling the powerhead. But that it will accept any gas or hand auger bit upto the specified listed inch requirement for each head.

I too am interesting in getting an electric auger since my hole drilling requirements are minor compared to other ice anglers.

got one last year and absolutely LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot say enough about the power and capabilities of this auger...

you will not be dissappointed.

I purchased online. Great customer service. Prompt shipping. No issues.

also... no need to worry about battery charge/power. I have punched over 40 holes in a day with no issue at all. and have easily done 70 holes on a single charge... with power left over.

With all the extensions that are available... no ice depth is too much.

It states that the adaptar comes with the powerhead.

Here is what it states.

The drive unit comes standard with the adaptor shaft for your hand auger.

I went with the Attacker. The competitor with the 12v hook up will be slower than the Attacker or the Seeker. The Seeker is the fastest of them all, but 6" max blade.

I am very happy with mine. Had to send it in for warranty work, but the customer service is top notch. Fast shipping also. The repair on mine was a faulty switch: fixed it fast, and returned promptly. Very happy customer right here.

The new models are a little different than mine. I was told that that the new models will come with the capabilities to hook right up to a 12v battery without removing the existing batteries, and putting the 12v block in.

Anyone want to purchase mine so I can upgrade to the new model?? Just kidding, I won't sell it.... grin

s2h..Thanks! Yours cracks me up. My uncle used to say that..and ya, he's a plumber. Clarification on the Gator: I knew it came with the adapter, but I meant you also need your actual auger in order to drill. Talked to a guy up on White Bear year before last that was using one next to us, and I was totally impressed! They really zing through that ice! At that time he told me about buying the auger separate.

I run with the Attacker set-up with an 8" Strikemaster with the chipper blade. I purchased the auger bit for the power auger because the rod was a little longer and I liked the looks/feel of it for the money. ($30)

the chipper blade works great for re-opening holes in a permanent.

You are gonna love the Ice Gator !

No more gas smell on your hands.. no more fumes in your house.. and they are nice and quiet!

Has anyone seen this work at Lake of the Woods with 50+ inches of ice?

I did this last year in over 35 inches and it worked well for 4 days! My Ice Gator last year had a Strikemaster laser bit on it at Lake of the Woods, this year it will see the likes of a Nils Master Bit.

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.

      I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.

      reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
