bopper4
As I put my gun away last November I was sure to clean it up well and give the barrel a nice coat of oil. I had it out a couple times this summer, it never left the house and it looked fine. To my dismay, I pulled it out yesterday and there were rust spots all over the stainless barrel. ANy suggestions on how I may get this off? I used solvent and a tooth brush which removed the actual rust but I can still see the spots on the barrel. Gordie
I friend of mine had this happen to his muzzle loader last year I belive it was an omega he took it back to GM and exchanged it he said that the guy there said they got a batch of bad stainless stuff that had a lot of steel in it and already exchanged 4 guns because of that reason. 0000 steel wool and rustyduck spray worked for me on my stainless 22mag. lightly polish and dont scrub hard Good luck

SmilinBob
There is still a bit of iron in stainless, thats why it can develope these rust spots. Re brushing it on a wire wheel is the fix, then keep an eye on it year round. Stainless does still need some care.
Scott M
Totally had a brain fart and forgot about my gun for a week after hunting in falling snow. Now I've got pretty bad rust on one side. I cleaned it up, but want to make it more thoroughly clean. What are my options? Blue wonder?Rebluing?wire brush like mad then oil?costs? picksbigwagon
I used "blue wonder gun cleaner" this fall on a browning bps I picked from a member here. I used 0000 steel wool and some of this Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner and man did it work slick. It took less than 3 minutes to LIGHTLY rub out the rust, I then used Kroil to help stop the ammonia based Blue Wonder. But it worked great. I used it on my parkerized 870 and it looked brand new. I will be trying it this spring inside my barrels, it is a gel so it won't run like Sweets does. I think it cost me 8 bucks for the tube of Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner. There are lots of blue wonder products, that is why I repeated it here a few times....Good luck
