Shelves behind a Bar

Buckcountry

Recommended Posts

Hi, does anyone have any cool ideas for shelving behind a bar. I have naughty Pine wall behind the bar, the bar is also pine. Just wondering if anyone has any unique ideas. I was thinking just putting up some pine shelves to match but welcome any other ideas. Thanks, pictures would be great too.

Look at some Knotty Alder or Ash.

Lot's of things to do.. put up a TV, DVD and play Ole' Vikings Superbowl and Playoff Losses so you got something to drink about. whether it depresses you or excites you.. it's a reason to tip back a few.

When I was reading your post my thought was glass. Of coarse that was my mental image of what the bar looked like. Reason being is that you already have the pine wall and bar, mix it up with glass, brass or at least different wood. You could use maple shelves for example. That'll make the shelves and pine pop and interesting instead of blend. Post a picture.

Yeah, I wish I knew how to post a picture. The bar is Knotty Pine L shaped on the sides the bar top is one piece Norway pine that is proffesionally finished and high glossed.

All of your ideas are great. I will have a tv in the corner. I like the glass idea but then thought a different type of wood would look neat too. I was thinking a different type of wood for a shelve and then put a mirror on the wall.

If you go with wood, consider staining it dark for contrast. I used to sell amish furniture and they did some of this. Stain was called esspresso. Looked real sharp. Is the area well lit enough to use wood shelves or do you need the light to filter through the shelves?

This is a headboard and side table I made this spring using that stain with natural hickory. Just to see what it maight look like.

surface tension,my first thoughts were the same, brass, glass or trimmings from the mill with bark,

At OP I like to go to a re-use center and see what they have, you can come up with some very unique ideas.

I built a bar for my boss out of the back end of an old wooden crist craft, and used the hard ware and wood to trim the rest of the bar area out,and make shelves. We went from drinking beer and cutting up an old rotten boat to "Hey this would make a great bar".
