Shotgun scope

Recommended Posts

I would go with the lowest power possible. I use a 1x4 Leupold and never have wished for more magnification. I like the wide field of view and light gathering. Be sure it's a true shotgun scope that can handle the recoil, and don't skimp on the rings.

Depending on what kind of shotgun its going on. I have a fully rifled slug that I can shoot 200 plus yards. I personally like like the idea of the 3x9 for longer range shots.

There is no difference in a rifle scope and shotgun scope anymore in terms of handling recoil. They both can take the same punishement I talked to people at both nikon and leupold and they both told me the only difference is maybe some eye relief and the paralax.

The biggest difference between a shotgun and rifle scope is eye relief. I own a half moon scar above my right eye from a shotgun mounted with a scope without proper eye relief.

I agree with LM. I'd lean towards the lower powered scope. 1 x 4 or 2 x 7 even if you can shoot out to 200 yards with your shotgun. Its easier to get the deer refocused in your scope with the lower power scope. Shotguns tend to kick pretty good.

Remington 1187 20ga paradox rifled barrell. For my daughter. Really nice gun. Now someone mentioned to me a red dot. I guess it is probably a personal preference. Thanks for the input here. It is greatly appreciated.
