southwest
I have permission to hunt a field that the geese are feeding in. The problem is the field is coal black due being wet and tilled. Has anyone used black bed sheets over blinds or does it still make them flare. He might allow us to digs a little hole for our blinds but there is manure under the and might be a little nasty. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
mnfisherman09
dig in as far as you can
ikeslayer
we had a silage cut feild once with no cover at all and was very wet as well - farmer was not a big fan of any kind of hole in his feild we all were wearing hardwoods camo or other very dark or gray camo and laid really still and that did the trick long enough for everyone in the group to get there 2. Fred_Bear
Tear all stubble off your blinds and mud them until every piece of them is totally black. Then if you're feeling ambitious you can dig in (we never do). I'll take a black field over a wheat stubble field anytime. Takes a lot less time to hide your blind and there's no shadows in a black field.
Gordie
might give that hair spray paint it washes off with water and you can get it at most dollar stores. just a thought or as FB said mud them blinds up

BucksnDucks
dont forget to surround those blinds with as many decoys as u think is good, then add 2 more. if not using blinds, dig in n cover everything in mud.
icehousebob
I knew an old guy a lot of years ago that made two large silloette(SP)decoys out of plywood. He set them up in the middle of his decoy spread about two feet apart and sat on a very low stool between them. Strange setup but he seemed to get geese. Muthagoose
Well if you can get clean straw" NO grain on it" and the farmer is cool about it. I would scatter the area by spreading straw around and then use either a low layout or cover yourself with burlap with some of the same straw tied to it. Also if you using sillo's put tight groups to lay in. Always worked for me if I couldn't dig pits.
carpshooterdeluxe
just mud your blind with soil from that field or a similar one. its not rocket science. you wont even need to dig down all that much, just a lanscape rake to level the soil under your blind will help. i'd dig down a little if i was allowed to, but its not necessary. these are the fields i absolutely love to hunt. maybe its because nobody else thinks they are huntable?? gatorhunter
This is why I've kept my goose chairs....specifically for hunting black fields.

slabbin@thecabin
In the past, I have sat on a rubber truck floor mat, if the feild is muddy, then covered up with a couple shells. Works wonders. The last hunt I was on, We had several flocks land 10-15' away from us.
