SE Mn Need a place to stay 2nd season

I've been hunting the Calidonia area for 23 years and we have stayed in the Park 90% of the time.

I just received word last night that the guys with the tent are probably not going this year.

Me and my hunting buddy need a place to crash Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

We are in our mid 40's professional, clean cut and extremely ethical hunters.

Any body have a cabin or trailer they could rent us for the weekend?? Know of any places to stay.

Hotels are booked up.

have you tried Big Joe's Campground? It is in Iowa, but only 5 miles south of Spring Grove. he has a couple cabins to rent and it is a campground as well. There is not much for hotels or motels down there. Is the one in Spring grove full?

You could try LaCrosse too. Might be a 30 minute drive. Wish I could tell you more. For what you are looking to stay in a Hotel and/or rent a camper, why don't you look at buying a tent?

I would love to buy a wall tent but we would only use it the one time a year.

Mike, let me email my sister in law, she lives in Spring Grove and works in Caledonia at Good Times (great pizza and a good bar) and see if she knows of anyone who might have a place to rent out for the weekend or for a couple nights.....

We gave up our rented cabin up north a couple of years ago. I went out and bought a bigger tent camper (some like to call them pop ups....I always hated that term) Has all the goodies, furnace, fridge, generator, TV, nuker. We havent looked back. we camp 5 minutes away by aTV from where we hunt. I'm okay with the $2500 I paid and we only use it once or twice a year ...something to think about.

I think Beaver Creek State Park has rental cabins. I believe real cheap also.

The cabin in Beaver Creek State Park doesn't have heat so they won't rent it out in the winter.

I've owned two different pop ups along with a slide in. I don't care to go that route again.

We've stayed in the back of the truck once, quite the adventure but don't really care to go that route either.

First of all, it's not PIGS.....secondly, she is working tonight at Good Times so she will ask around. The owner of good times is a big outdoorsman and will know if there is a place to rent

Did you check with Money Creek Haven? they rent rooms out for $65 a night. i am staying there first week but i am taking my camper. I have a 3 room tent i bought about 8 years ago and only used it a few times i would sell for $50 it looks like new and all the parts are there, i guess 1 zipper snags or opens bad i was told by the last person i lent it to

Cowboymn1, I guess we are neighbors......I hunt a farm between Spring Grove (my wife's hometown) and Mabel. I also have acces to 40 acres of outside of Blackhammer, but it is 25+ acres of straight bluff and ridge....No easy way to get into the stands in the morning but afternoon hunting the top 10 acres crp field will be my avenue next time I hunt that parcel...I am returning to Iowa to hunt this fall

there is a motel just across the border in Dorchester Iowa, maybe 9 miles from Caledonia. I think it is called sportsmans paradies, I will try and track down the phone number for ya....(I just remembered it...)

It is worth a shot since Iowa's season doesn't start until the first weekend in December.

For dinner, head to Caledonia, or at least stop by after a day of hunting and hit Good Times. My sister in law works there, tends bar and waitresses, Ask for Sasa (her real name is Sarah but all of my kids call her Sasa)

They have really good pizza

picksbigwagon, Not only do we both hunt the same area it looks like we live in the same town! i live over by Cleary Lake! i hunt just out of Caledonia on 249

Mike, i called all over down there and couldnt find anything so i am taking my RV to Money Creek, camp sites are open with electric only, bathrooms and showers are open in the main building. you could try Eagle Bluff Campground, last year their cabins wern't full during gun "A" season, and not a bad place to stay but a long drive to Caledonia
