Pikemaster101
Did anyone buy one of these yet and test it out? What do you think? is this going to be the next 870. They look like a great gun but I think I will give them a year or two to figure things out and see if they need to change anything on it. Also I seen it comes in black and the marsh camo. Does anyone think that they will put the duck blind camo on it in a year or two. I wouldn't see why not cuz they have it on the 870.
Dragonsm
A guy I hunt with picked one of these up and has already cycled a slew of shells through it. He's had it out hunting doves, ducks, geese...etc and it's been banged around the duck boat and he seems to be very happy with the gun. (He traded in his Nova to upgrade to this gun)He picked up the black one and the coating seems to be holding up well.
Cheetah
My brother is looking at buying one. Said it fits him well and is in his price range. Hard to argue with that.
dukhnt
IMO they felt very plasticy. Gonna stick with my 870 thats for sure.
Scott M
They put more plastic on so you don't get the rusting and so it can take a beating. I'd like to shoot one some time. Good price range and if its anything like an 870 I'm sure it'll sell well.
broken_line
haha i dont think a 870 can be beat for reliability.. it took a toss in the lake, 10 days wet in a gun case, sand everywhere in it and alot of mud in the magazine tube to get it to quit working right.. if this is a better version of an 870 yippee!!!!! Gordie
I havent seen the new rem yet but the 870 is gonna be hard to beat in any aspect.
koonie
It's nothing like an 870. It's not meant to be. It's a waterfowl hunting beater gun.Ugly as sin. Points very well. Rough action. Should be a good duck/goose gun as well as boat paddle.
MDD
Koonie has the right idea here. The 887 was designed to compete against the Benelli Nova...just look at the design of the gun it's very similar. In addition, it's covered in Remington's new Armorlokt technology which is supposed to be entirely rust proof. It accepts 3 1/2 inch shells for the goose hunter and has a synthetic stock and forearm....perfect for the waterfowler. However, I don't think it compares to the 870. I didn't find the gun to be a smooth shooter and as for the new super cell recoil pad I didn't notice an advantage.....in fact, I was disappointed with this firearm and would buy the 870 instead. I was however pleasantly surprised with Remingtons new auto loader the 105 CTI. It's a bottom feed, bottom eject and it was fast, comfortable, and I enjoyed shooting it. Cheetah
I bought my 870 a few years back and within the first two hunts a huge amount of the wood had the stain and clear-coat worn off simply from carrying it around in the field. Lucky for me I bought it as a beater gun, so I didn't feel too bad. I've been meaning to paint it, maybe next summer.
