Bear55
Trigger i'd get into stand this weekend. A friend of mine at work who is very well "connected" told me a few of his friends in the last 2 days have seen some big deer getting frisky. He and his little circle believes October 24th is a magic day. I'll be out all weekend hunting both areas. Last year on the 24th i messed up on a 130 class 10 pointer. I don't doubt this one bit, every year some of the older does come into heat during late Oct, the big boys know this and they are ready for some early action. I don't think its wide spread but if you have a hot doe in your area every buck for miles around will be after her.
vister
i checked my trail camera today. really sucks when the batteries went dead 10 days ago but, i found SOMEONES scrape line for sure. overhangin branches between corn and woods are all busted up. No huge scrapes, but in 80 yards, there was 13 of them, and they were all torn to he77! not too many rubs, but that october lull is about over
Musky Buck
I hear ya Bear, I've had 6 bucks running 1 doe before, quite a sight, took buck #4, an 11 pointer, wish I would've waited, buck #6 was the monster. I wish they could've said hang on another ones coming and the last one is the biggest racked one, a dandy 10 pointer with a 20" spread, the 11 pt. was close, but not like the horse. james_walleye
Thanks, I plan on getting out this weekend, and a couple of times next week. It looks like things are about to pop around here. The big guy we were talking about before got shot but not recovered, if you want the story, email me. You might still have my address from last year. I'm hoping that the big guys start getting more active. Also know of one real nice buck that was hit by a truck when it crossed behind a doe. The truck stopped for the doe, but never saw the buck. That was Wednesday. Man that sucks. Was it a bad hit? Was it near us? I'd like to hear the story. [email protected] if you don't have it.
