Meyer8043
I don't know what happened from last year but i'm a terrible shot this year? Should have limited out every outing so far but cant hit anything! Anyone have any suggestions for a rear type shotgun sight so i am lining up both the back and front sight? I heard the duckbuster sight is junk and the speed bead sight is a little too much for me unless it produces miracles? Thanks for the info
RumRiverRat
Pattern your gun and practice with some clay pigeons.Learn to mount your gun the same way every time. You can spend money on all the sights you want but they will cure flaws in your use of the gun. picksbigwagon
Did you switch loads and brands? Sometimes that will cause different patterns in you shot...... would be cheaper to shoot a big chunk of cardboard at 30 -40 yards with a 30" circle on it than going after electronics and gunsmithing. I ended up taking my truglo magnetic front bead off my over and under because i was missing everything low. Didn't help me on saturday when I didn't get the bead out in front of the pheasant....Good luck
Meyer8043
i did pattern my gun and have been using the same shells. I also did shoot clays 3 times before opener might have to get in a trap league cause missing this many birds makes me sick!!!
bobbymalone
a second bead can work wonders if you are having trouble getting your gun pointed straight. Shooting trap probably isn't gonna help much as (at least I don't) get many trap-like shots in the duck blind. Try skeet or sporting clays. That said, I can shoot about 95% at trap, 75% at skeet, and I shoot about 20% at ducks.
Ufatz
Relax. Everybody goes through these slumps. Skip spending money on a shotgun sight. Try to get out and shoot some more claybirds and don't let anybody ever tell you that shooting trap or skeet won't help your field hunting-that's just nonsense; the more you shoot the better you shoot.Right now you've got your shorts all in a knot about it. Take it easy next time and just remember to keep your head down and swing smooooootttthhhh! You'll get back to normalBeen There!!!
goblueM
the way i learned shooting, you never even look at sights on a gun barrel... i'm sure some do it differently but if I were you i'd watch a couple videos on how to shoot, at the very least it'll give you a few ideas to try out
cutter08
Try and relax. Alot of people get to worked up and over think the shot.
SmilinBob
They are right, relax, get back to the fundamentals of shooting, breathing, gun mount, smooth squeeze of trigger. That being said, as a gunsmith I can only try to imply that a mid-rib bead might not hurt.
311Hemi
Anyone have any suggestions for a rear type shotgun sight so i am lining up both the back and front sight? Have you fitted your shotgun properly? I don't think you should have any issues "lining up" your barrel if the gun if fit properly. Proper fit and then practicing your mount should take care of any alignment issues.I know when I shouldered my SX2 last year I was always seeing the top of the barrel. This year I put in a shim to drop the comb of the barrel a little and now it lines up perfectly when I shoulder the gun....no aiming needed. Just point and shoot. There's a number of things that go info proper fit, but it may be the first thing you want to address if you have not already.IMO additional sights of any sort are not the answer.
