Now that's some kind of duck hunting weather! I'll be out in the morning in a barley field up north w/ a few guys, I'll post a report.

I'll be up in Northern Minnesota for 10 days. Can't wait, missed opener because of work. Hopefully the weather pushed the ducks down. Maybe the wait will be worth it!

Figured there would be some movement, saw little to none.

With all the water and birds in the Dakotas, and lack of birds statewide in MN, I gotta feeling this year is gonna be worse than ever. Hope I'm wrong, but for where I sat all day yesterday, something should have been happening, and it was at best, minimal.

The good news is, it can't possibly get much worse.

I will be out in Southern MN on Saturday and Sunday. 2nd weekend is usually pretty good yet for local birds. I doubt we will see any kind of a big push...but we will be setting out 4 dz divers just in case. Might try chasin some roosters, too bad there is so much corn standing yet!

I think Chub is right. I know you have to be optimistic to be a duckhunter. But it is Oct. 9th and not Nov. 9th. You might see a trickle of the light weight ducks and the calendar migrators but you will have to wait until later to see the real ducks. Good luck to all that go out. I am still nursing a sore shoulder from my trip to ND and will have to eat some birds before I can go back out.

Okay...now I am starting to think there might be a "big push" Looks like some parts of canada could get a foot of snow. This just seems way too early in the season.

I will be at the farm by ortonville, and with the weather ive been seeing in manitoba and saskat,(snow northwest winds 30-50 khm) there might be a good push this weekend. but who knows the only way to find out is in the blind.

There were plenty of mallards and a few wigeon this morning. Shot 3 man limit of greenheads and 2 bands, a couple honkers. After that we had the other two older guys that sat in a rock pile with a few goose decoys sit in the blinds and shot their limit of mallards.

I'll post pictures later on Sunday. The forecast is calling for snow tomorrow, it'll get interesting, good luck and be safe!

Just looked at the national weather service forcast as im heading up around Roseau next wknd and lows are to be in the mid to low 20s all next wk. That said I hope the small lakes dont ice over sending what birds are there south.

Wow! This was the best shoot for me in MN (after opening weekend) in 5 years. Should have been done by 7:30. Just couldn't get that last one down. Many birds in the area...Cans, Mallards, Redheads, Ringers, Wigions, Gaddys. Many nice flocks came into the decoys. Had to watch many Cans in the decoys after I shot my one.
