Core-lokt vs Accutip slugs

Recommended Posts

Are u talking for slug guns ? If not I shoot 180 grain core-lokt Remingtons since 1983 in my rifle and they seem to mushroom extremely well. Even the only gut shot deer I ever shot went down and was dazed until I put 1 in his neck. Someone else can give you accu-tip details.

I'm assuming you meant rifle, there are 2 core lokt types as well, I shoot the one that's really rounded on the tip, the other remington load has a point to it. My guess is if you nail them in proper locations the results will be the same........time to notch your tag.

same here, I use to shoot 165 core lokts, hard to find now; but the last buck i shot i found the mushroom in the opposite shoulder, I kept it with the european mount

Has anybody shot both? I'm hoping they shoot the same. Same weight and velocity. It looks as if the accu-tips may have more knock down power. The core-lokts are very accurate but don't mushroom much. The accu-tips are even $5 cheaper.

He is talking about slugs actually.

I bought both this year but I haven't got a chance to shoot both side by side. I did shoot the core lokts last year, at a target, and I'm dialed in at 150 yards.

I will probably shoot both next week and let you know the results.

I don't have time this year to do extensive sighting in, so I will be interested to see what you think about teh accutips. I have been looking at the Hornady's for a couple of years now but I am still working on the "stock pile" of winchester partion golds that I shoot. I am zero'd in with those at 100 yards with open sights
