boogaard24
I hunt in Itasca county. I just scout real well, but If you need a guide make sure they don't just dump a bag of garbage in the woods. Go to a bakery for what they through out. I leave a can for them then check back every other day. I go to a fast food joint and get their dirty grease. When I bait I cook bacon at the site, bait the site then dump the grease all over the pit. I use bigger logs to cover the bait to limit the racoons. When I sit in the stand I always cook some bacon in a old coffee can and some sulfur campfire stuff, It seems like the bears love the bacon smell. If you use a guide make sure he is ligit. Make sure the guide is ligit, because there is a lot of people out there that say that they are a guide.
lichen fox
Go to the Dnr HSOforum Click on Hunting & Fishing, Click on Bear hunting....then you should find a link to a list of all the guides in Minnesota....then you just need to know what area you are applying for and some of the towns in and around that zone to find possible guides for that area...The Guide list only shows Bear Outfitters that are legaly licensed by the State DnrWhen you contact them be sure to ask for references, shot opportunity percentages, etc...Good Luck! gundy89
I went 2 years ago with Ken and Sheila Bahr at Sportsman's Paradise in International Falls. Highly recomend them. We had a blast. We bought the hunt at the Hunt of a Lifetime benefit so we didn't really know what we were getting. Definitely a first class operation. We hunted out of brand new ladder stands and active baits. They have a walk in cooler and process the bear at their lodge. If you tag out early like I did, they have pheasant hunting too.

harvey lee
From what I have heard, you can't go wrong with Jonny and Kelly P for bear hunting. They will work their tails of for their hunters gun or bow.

vman59
Thanks Everyone I appreciate the info and I am looking into it already. We are not new to bear hunting having done it for years here, just takes so long to draw and we enoy it so much. I took video of a sow and cubs while I was sitting over my bait and it was fun to watch the interaction between them.Basicly we are just looking at baiting and care of the bear after it taken. Lodging and such we can take care of. Anyone as anymore suggestion let me know. Again thanks to all.
Matt Breuer
I would suggest looking into outfitters in the no-quota zone. Much higher percentages I would think, and you don't have to worry about being drawn...
